An unexpected delight to find this charming ,genuine "oldie wordly" pub by accident on a weekend drive. Inside we were delivered back in time where the decor would delight anyone looking for that old genuine Scottish charm and the friendliness and service of the staff was second to none. We had a wonderful meal which was of fantastic quality and... more

The Allan Ramsay is a charming hotel and restaurant in a beautiful setting. Lovely home cooked food (the homemade soup is delish!) good variety on the menu and really friendly atmosphere. The staff were helpful and attentive and will definitely be back! The resident dogs are really cute too! more

My wife and I had a truly memorable stay at this hotel. Undoubtedly a hidden gem, this hotel is everything a small intimate country hotel should be. Very friendly and accomodating staff, fantastic food at very reasonable prices and a menu that changes daily meant we were spoilt for choice! Charm and character oozes out of every rafter and nook... more

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. I first stayed in the hotel for a birthday dinner and overnight stay in December. The food was great and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed eating in the bar area and had a great table near the fire. It was a warm and... more

This is an easy place to get to on the main road from Edinburgh to Biggar, the A702. I was looking for a weekend in the country with the wife and our teenage daughter and this Hotel turned out to be a little gem. I stayed on the Saturday and although we arrived early that morning the staffs were very... more

The previous reviewer probably visited this hotel bar when it still had a good reputation. Since then it has underwent a management changeover, and definitely not for the better. This Mother's Day 2009 myself and my partner thought we would treat our mothers to a meal there. I called the previous night to book a table for four. We turned... more

The summary of the complaint was that we allocated a low table to a disabled person (note - without being advised of the disability) and there were no other tables available. … When we took the call, the table in question was the last available - therefore we reserved it. No special requirements i.e. disability were advised and customers very...

The Allan Ramsay is a family run, small hotel in the little village of Carlops which is just inside the Scottish Borders but only 16 miles south of Edinburgh. There is a warm welcome from the owners and staff and a strong feeling of community in the village. It's also only 15 miles from the beautiful Border town of Peebles.... more
