A beautiful hotel with good food and great staff, let down by scruffy rooms and by its high prices. My partner and I stayed for two nights in November to celebrate my birthday. We had a stableyard room, which was nice, but was not all that clean. The free champagne in the mini bar was a lovely touch and we... more

We visited Barnsley House for a couple of nights (Saturday and Sunday) away from the kids. We wanted something a bit different but relaxing and we were not disappointed. We stayed in a Stableyard Room which was fantastic. We really wanted to spend the weekend doing as little as possible and the duplex-stlye room (living room & fantastic bathroom downstairs... more

my girlfriend and i went to Barnsley House looking for a few days escape from our busy, hectic London lives....... Barnsley House was everything we wanted and more..... the property itself is stunning, the design and look of the place is very smart yet totally laid back and unpretentious..The staff were young and all very confident and attentive, again not... more

A beautiful country hotel with fantastic garden. I took my girlfriend here recently in order to propose to her. I contacted the hotel in advance and they could not have been more helpful. They arranged a private dining area in the garden and on arrival they had been briefed not to let on about the planned dinner etc. On the... more

The hotel is gorgeous to look at and our bedroom was wonderful (although for £325 "room only", I would've expected a seperate shower). The in-room electronics kept hubby occupied for hours, but one of the bedside lights didn't work, I had to struggle to get into the wardrobe and the sofa was ripped. The gardens are fantastic and certainly deserve... more

I like good country hotels witha bit of attititude but I dislike paying only for atitude and design. The operation of the hotel and the management are mediocre and paying 420 pounds a night for those rooms is too much compared to any hotels in Europe. There much cosier hotels in the near area that are much cheaper and at... more

We would highly recommend Barnsley House to families with young children - the hotel were most welcoming of us all and set up for little ones with cots, high chairs, etc. You were welcome in all the bars, restaurants and the pub over the road at any time of day. We even enjoyed cocktails in the bar with our little... more

My husband and I had a delicious, relaxing weekend at the Barnsley House. It’s one of those places where all the components (service, decor, food, spa facilities - esp. the heated outdoor pool), each taken alone, are at a high level, and combined, are unforgettable. We saw our final tab double the promotion price (£362 a night) once we factored... more

My friend and I had the most wonferful 'girls day out' at Barnsely House - we didn't stay, but went for the Garden Tour and lunch (at under £30 a person this time of year it was an amazing bargain - included coffee and lovely home made biscuits on arrival, tour of the garden with the head gardener, and a... more
