We stayed at La Tartana hotel boutique for 4 nights. We arrived there on June 3. We were surprised how beautiful and romantic the hotel is . It is situated on a hill and you can see from there the Mediterranean Sea .The position is really beautiful. The hotel has a beautiful outdoor space that offers you a great view over the city. We were welcome there by the owner Antonio, who guided us to our room . He is an amazing person. He helped us with suggesting places that we should visit while we were there , helped us renting a car and had many conversations about things that we can do while we are in Spain. We connected with him very well. Nevertheless the breakfast at the hotel in the morning was great. It was prepared by his wife who is a talented chef. The hotel is close to the city and close to the beach. No more than 10 minutes to walk. We enjoyed all our staying at the hotel. We will be back soon . Note: Antonio , the hotel has a beautiful family vibe . See you next time. Thank you for everything!!!!

I have so many nice things to say about La Tartana and I will NEVER remember them all, but I’ll try…😉 Forst off, the hosts - Antonio and Evelyn -are simply the best. Antonio manages reservations and guest accommodations, and Evelyn is the chef and overseas the kitchen. Antonio tended to our every need, and even offered to handle an emergency load of laundry when we couldn’t find a local laundromat! They were so friendly and inviting, and really made us feel comfortable and looked after. Even Nala, the hotel “pup” made an appearance at the hotel restaurant where we enjoyed an incredible meal skillfully prepared by Evelyn. The food was off. the. hook. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Literally every dish we had was amazing, but I just have to say the pork tenderloin was especially tantalizing. The location is absolutely beautiful. The hotel overlooks the Mediterranean, and the outside garden restaurant is a perfect spot to enjoy breakfast and the view. The rooms are spacious and lovingly decorated, and many have a balcony or oceanside view. The indoor restaurant is downstairs and has the same view - yet for all the seaside panorama, the hotel maintains its warm and cozy feel. We can’t wait to visit La Herradura and La Tartana again!! Definitely make this a stop on your next Spain trip if your plans take you to Andalusia.

Beautiful small intimate hotel with great hospitality and very fine dining. Lovely terraced garden with Mediterranean trees and plants, especially interesting succulents. Great hosting, anything to help but discreet enabling me to relax.

I wanted to stay longer. Very well run boutique hotel with a magnificent restaurant. Run by Antonio and Evelyn, they are lovely people and make you very welcome. Some of the rooms have a beautiful view over the ocean. It’s a 5 minute walk into the local town for shopping, beach and restaurants. But I have to say the cooking in this hotel was the best. Highly recommended for some peace and love, I will be back.

Lovely new owners ( married couple ) have turned the La Tartana back into a place well worth visiting. Great hospitality , both of them ( Antonio & Evelyn ) are full of warmth and happiness - you can't miss it when you see them both smiling. A friend of mine from Frankfurt/Main was over for a six day visit to celebrate his 60th. I found this hotel of course on Tripadv - he was over the moon when he saw the place - check out their website and photos - the place has still got that beautiful Spanish flair etc. As a special birthday treat ,dinner was booked in the hotel instead of going into La Herradura. Antonio served us in the dinner room while his wife Evelyn prepared and cooked a ' 5 star ' four course meal for us. The quality , flavours & seasoning were a dream. At the end of the ' birthday meal ' , Antonio managed to sit down with us for a few mins to have friendly chat ( in English ) and have a celebration drink. It was an unforgettable evening, next time round i'll be there with my girlfriend for a romantic short vacation.

Very nice new owners serving great dinner. The quality of the food was as positive as the atmosphere and the concern for the guests. A hidden gem. This place is worth a detour! We will defintely come back.

Our meal there was the highlight of our holiday. The chef produced elegant starters, an impressive range of main couses and desserts to die for. All with fantastic views of the sea aresnd bay. A wonderful experience. The service was excellent, five stars all round. The owner showed us guest bedrooms, all well appointed - some with beautiful sea views

We have just experienced a Wedding Taster menu at La Tartana in La Herradura on the Costa Tropical. The food they served was to a very high standard, mouth-wateringly delicious, the work of an experienced and highly skilled chef. La Tartana is a very beautiful boutique hotel and restaurant on the hillside just above La Herradura. With stunning views across the sparkling sea and surrounding mountains this has to be a beautiful setting for a wedding venue and we shall look forward to our return.

We’ve stayed here probably 3 times before, very happily, though it’s now changed hands and is run by Antonio and his wife since 3 months ago. They’ve done away with the indoor bar area and created a couple of extra rooms, one of which we stayed in (very comfortable) which has its own private terrace. The room’s been done up attractively and they’ve kept the old fireplace as a feature. They’re also extending and improving the large multi-level sea-facing terrace (a new pergola-style roof on one section, we think): the shrubs and flowers are still lovely, despite the really dry summer, but the old main road in front means there’s still traffic noise till later evening - less since the autovia was completed of course. We ate outside on the terrace - one of the great joys of being here. A more subdued evening than usual as we were the only people staying (& no non-residents in the restaurant on Monday nights) - though it did mean we had a meal cooked to order & Jenny loved her seafood option. I was a bit less convinced about the vegetarian options for me. I had some creamy and traditional pumpkin soup, and then a tasty fresh omelette with sides of sautéed potatoes and cold sliced tofu with soy, but wished I’d alerted the hotel earlier that I was vegetarian. I think Antonio’s wife would have been able to offer other options too, including more salad or veg. Breakfast the next day included a wide range of goodies, including lots of fresh fruit. Antonio was hampered by two things outside his control though. One was a power cut from before we woke up, and though it came back on as we appeared for breakfast it meant no cafe con leche - but if a blow. And secondly the baker never appeared at 0730 as expected, so no fresh bread, or croissants. Hence only 4 stars - harsh perhaps but it did slightly take the edge off our start to the day. We were made very welcome by Antonio though and we’re very likely to want to come back - so good a start point for earlyish starts up or down the Rio Verde above Otivar. We hope all goes well, Antonio :)
