Stayed here for a weekend with my walking club. It was clean, warm, friendly (staff and other guests). Great having food cooked for you, good value too. Would recommend to others. If you don't want to share with strangers booking would be a good idea, in advance. The staff are friendly and the food they supply/cook is really good value... More

What a wonderful place. The building has a lovely warmth to it, maybe something to do with the beautiful wooden floor on the ground floor. I loved the quirkiness of the building and the way some of the original features had been maintained. Nearly every window (that I saw) had a window seat, so you could take in a view... More

Stayed one night in Beer youth hostel just before Christmas. Lovely location and great facilities. What really mad the stay though was Jamie who made our stay he could not have been more helpfull. Really useful to have a local member of staff able to give tips on stuff to do in the local area. Cheers.

Very friendly welcome. Perhaps a little difficult to find and the showerrs were very cramped for a big person but there was a lovely family atmosphere and a splendid breakfast. Good value; a splendid stop for someone walking the South West Coastal path.

The property itself is a lovely building tucked away just a stone's throw from the centre of Beer. It has a restaurant, parking and spaces for camping (which is very good value at £5 a night, my friend took advantage of this) The dorm room which I stayed in was fine, though some of the people using it were exceptionally... A wonderful hostel, location and exceptionally well run hostel by friendly and helpful staff and manager, Jon. I spent a couple of days here and really loved the breakfast and delicious dinner which came as a surprise, expecting the usual self catering only hostel facilities. The only points to note however, for me I prefer female only toliets and shower... More

Tucked away above and at the back of the village of Beer. The Youth Hostel has a flat grass garden, great for the kids. With views across rolling hills and the town. Making the large arts and crafts house a great place for group parties and events. Events that can be self contained or to supply a base for trips... More

Just returned from a 3 night break in this lovely hostel and will be returning at the next opportunity. Jon and his team were excellent hosts, great with the kids (pumpkin carving) and the adults ( wonderful Exeter brewery beers ). The wonderful building had an art display from Sidmouth based artist Rebecca Greenwood, so without the fear of the... More

As a group of 18 children and adults mountain biking around Devon we had a wonderful stay at Beer. John and his staff were very helpful indeed, fitting us in despite us messing up our booking. The house was extremely clean, smelt fresh and was well maintained. We enjoyed excellent food served very efficiently. We would love to book the... More
