I confirmed the one night reservation with an e-mail. Very simple. Parking was right next to the castle. My husband and I had a lovely dinner with excellent service and quality ingredients. The sweet couple that runs the hotel tended to our every need. We even received a visit from the Liebenstein ghost after dinner! Our room was simple, but... More

Like others' reviews, there was confusion with our booking, and though we had a room in the castle itself, we were very surprised how rude and unwelcoming the staff were. They made us so uncomfortable we almost left after check-in. Not good. The room was okay and the view amazing, but the sheets on the bed were ripped when we... More

We chose this castle hotel solely for the experience and the Rhine valley view. The rooms were adequate with a great view of the river and the opposite river bank (town of Bad Salzig). Only one room had a wall mounted heater. Dinner was nice but expensive. Breakfast was limited in range but provided generous portions. The only real drawback... More

We were so looking forward to staying at Castle Liebenstein. 2 nights were confirmed via a phone conversation. We just had to confirm with an email. Being cautious we phoned to make sure the email was recieved. We were continually asked to call back as email had not been checked. Many calls answered with 'sorry i cant speak english please... We stayed here for one night in August 2011...two adults and an 8 year old. Yes, the staircase is very tight...I found it to be real and charming. Our large window opened up to a direct view of the next castle just 1/4 mile away and of course the Rhein far below. The owner (I assumed) noticed my son and... More

Staying at Castle Liebenstein was one of the highlights of our 2-week German vacation. So much history, and breathtaking views of the Rhine and the castle next door from our room. We stayed in an "old castle" room...felt like we were stepping back into the 14th century! Dinner and Breakfast at the castle were both very good. Some of the... More

This was by far the highlight of our trip to Germany. The entire castle was beautiful- everything felt so authentic, yet comfortable. The hosts were very friendly. Meals were delicious! The castle grounds were amazing. So fun to explore and discover.

Loved every moment of our 1 week stay, we booked well in advance for a room overlooking the Rhine and were not disappointed. Excellent menu good beer and friendly host and staff. As we did not have a car we found climbing up and down the hill a bit strenuous. great get away from it all place.

We had reservations since April, where I made it clear I needed a single room for my mother-in-law (with walking difficulities, 73 years old & dreamed of seeing Germany's castles) with easy stair entrance and a view of the Rhine. (this was supposed to be a surprise for her and a highlight of the trip, so we stayed in much... More

I just returned from a wonderful 2-night stay at Castle Liebenstein. During our most recent European vacation, we stayed in four 5-star hotels and here. The castle was my parent's favorite location. The romantic ruins, the endless views, the scenery, the goats, and the castle all made this a magical stay. The staff was very pleasant and the breakfast very... More
