My wife and I stayed for one night. We were meeting friends who lived nearby, so needed a bed for the night and breakfast the following morning. We had a relaxing night's sleep and a very good freshly cooked breakfast. No complaints and just what we were looking for.

I stayed recently at the George in Hayfield with a friend and although it was an old building with oak beams the room was adequate and clean but a little on the small side. However the staff were lovely and very welcoming and the breakfast freshly cooked and delicious. I didn't realise that some of The village was filmed in... More

We hadn't visited the George for some time, I don't know how long the current landlord has been there but the atmosphere, food and drinks were excellent and good value. We noticed "wine down Friday" where any bottle of wine was £10.00 (think there might be a time limit) We had a gammon steak, chips etc and there was plenty... More

We had a 2 night stay in April, still snow on the ground, but the hotel's log fires were burning and our room was really warm. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the food excellent, quality produce and very good value.

We went to The George on 31/3/2013 for my wife's birthday. Two adults and two kids aged 14 and 7. It's a pub with a lot of character and gets popular with walkers after their days on Kinder Scout and surrounding hills. For drinks it was one pint of Fosters one coke, one black current juice, and a lime and soda. We... More

We called by chance after a great day out , we were not disappointed, you get a good feeling as you walk through the door. The staff are very welcoming, the open fire roaring away then topped with 3 faultless courses... the Mushroom Pepperpot starter is not to be missed...all the food was piping hot served with little waiting by... While driving around the Peaks in snowy windy weather, we needed to find somewhere warm and welcoming for lunch, and happily the George hove into view. A lovely open fire, charming staff and excellent food (including great chips) provided just about the perfect stopover. Can't think of any downsides at all! Well done George.

I have had several meals here in the last few years with my whole family and i have to say that usually you can not fault them. The food is always well prepared and served pipping hot and the staff are usually really attentive and friendly. They have a great selection of food including a Lunch Special with 2 courses... More

One of the best pub's in the area, comfortable and friendly, try the £8.95 for 2 courses meals, excellent value for money, food is freshly home cooked and plenty of it and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Lovely big open fire in the colder months is a welcome sight. Big car park at the rear and outdoor seating... More

We went to the George on a Friday night for a friends birthday meal they catered brilliantly for around two dozen of us eating and the ten or so who turned up later for a drink. The food was all off the main menu and tasted great the staff were quite happy for us to redesign there down stairs dining... More
