Three of us were lucky enough to be able to stay with Andrea & Alasdair for 4 days over the Easter Holidays. What an amazing place to escape to. We felt completely at home, the rooms were large and comfortable, the breakfast delicious and the hosts lovely. There were lambs sheltering in one of the barns and we were lucky... More

Had a fabulous stay in a beautiful location. Alisdair and Andrea are great hosts - the room was so comfortable and Alisdair's breakfasts are just phenomenal! Perfect place to relax and explore the lovely village of Barr and surrounding areas.

Everything was great. We loved the breakfast in the private sitting room. The local pub was closed so Alisdair made us dinner. That was very special. We loved the dogs and actually we miss them! It was so nice to talk to Alisdair and Andrea and they really try to make you feel more than comfortable. The location is so... More

We really enjoyed our stay in this excellent, relaxing B+B. the owners (both two legged and four legged) were welcoming and gave great service. Both Alisdair and Andrea were helpful suggesting places to visit without being intrusive. The breakfast was superb, nicely presented and unhurried, with a great view of the garden to ponder whilst eating. The room was spacious... More

This B&B was perfect. The room was so clean and comfortable (and newly renovated!). The welcome was superb. The view from my window soo virtual reality... and the dogs were the sweetest ever! I loved my stay. Alasdair gave a wonderful welcome, and I enjoyed Andrea's special eye for the mysteries of flowers. Hope to return.

Our stay at Alton Albany Farm spoiled us for all other B&Bs. It may have been the wonderful and attentive hosts, Alasdair and Andrea, or it may have been the restored spacious farmhouse with its mix of rugged stone buildings and tastefully restored interior (with a huge room and super comfy bed). One morning, after a delicious breakfast, we found... More

Often a trip back to a place held dear in the memory turns out to be somewhat disappointing but not so that to Barr. The village is every bit a lovely as I remembered it to be and Alton Albany, though somewhere I had no rembrance of if indeed it was even a B&B all these years ago, is a... More

Enjoyed the whole stay at Alton Albany including a warm welcome from Alastair and tea and cakes by a roaring fire in the private sitting room on arrival. Accommodation very high standard and in a beautiful location. Lovely clean room with gorgeous comfortable beds and nice views. Had a lovely weekend at this very good get-away-from-it-all B&B - just the right place to stay for visiting the Wigtown Book Festival. The house and its bedrooms are exceptionally spacious and there is an astonishing view down the valley of the River Stinchar. The night sky here is very dark - excellent for stars. Just a short walk into... More

We arrived in drizzly rain and left in brilliant autumn sunshine. The farm is a real find: set in a lovely valley with a stream running through the garden, it's light and airy with a great sense of space. Warm welcome, flowers in my room, dogs with character and a hearty breakfast outside looking up the valley; I was only... More
