We stayed only one night for weekend trip. Hotel Edoya is very good budget hotel, espesially if you have a family. Few minutes walk from Akihabara digital center of Tokyo and few minutes walk from Ueno park Sakura center of Tokyo yet hotel neighbourhood is very quite one. Breakfast is average so are the amenities but very good value for... More

Hotel Edoya is a bit of a throw back. Tatami mat rooms, small sitting area, very small bathroom, separate shower area...the layout worked well for our family. I give the hotel 3.5 stars for the facillity plus an extra .5 star for the nice men at the front desk. Located centrally near to the zoo and Akihabara; decent prices; friendly... More

We stayed here one night and were pleasently surprised by the comfort of Japanese style / ryokan. I'd surely stay here again. It's five blocks from ueno station, & 1000¥ taxi trip to Ueno stn. The on site restaurant is decent and breakfast is fair. The dinner menu is rather limited to a choice of four set meals, but they... More

Great value if you want to experience a real japanese hotel (ryokan). Be sure to also check out the osen bath on the top floor. Good location close to Ueno with easy access to many metro and JR lines. Breakfast was very good and had Japanese as well as Western food.

Yes this hotel is dated, but if you expect a large modern hotel, then stay at the Novotel, this is a true Japanese hotel experience, if you choose a ryokan room then, yes you will be sleeping on the floor, (not on a mattress on the floor, but on the floor) and yes your pillow will feel like it is... We stayed here for 5 nights in September 2008. We got a free dinner at their restaurant (each 5-night or more reservation got one). Only Japanese-style breakfast, but a decent one. There's a western-style coffee shop down the road if you need your morning caffeine dose. The room was large enough, with a good quality futon and pillows. There was... More

Hotel Edoya is a great value ryokan in a good location, close to a lot of transport options. It is also close to a department store where you can buy meals and bento, lots and lots of restaurants and izakaya (Japanese watering holes that also do food), and also Ueno Park, which is home to some of Tokyo's top attractions.... Although this is not sort of luxury hotel, it is worth to stay with a reasonable price in central Tokyo. Very close to Ueno and Akihabara and easy to get a main train, Yamanote-line and several undergrounds. Safe and lots of bars and restaurants are open until midnight in Ueno and Akihabara. As others mentioned, facilities are not new but... More

We stayed here for 2 nights over Christmas. Great location, close to Ueno Park and the museums and short walk to several subway stops and train stations. After reading reviews about accommodation in Japan we were expecting small, cramped rooms, but this was not the case. The economy private Japanese-style double room had a very comfy futon and a sitting... More

This hotel was well located, had good public baths, washing machine for use and good breakfast. The family room for 5 was fabulous. I think is it is a good choice for anyone looking for a japanese style well priced place to stay in Tokyo.
