We stayed at Hotel Fukudaya during a Christmas vacation to Tokyo earlier this year. The hotel is perfectly located – just a short walk from Shibuya crossing and Shibuya station – and a short train ride from Harajuku and Shinjuku. The accommodations were excellent and the staff was very friendly. We do not speak Japanese, but had no trouble checking in... More

A charming and traditional family owned hotel, conveniently located at walking distance from Shibuya, one of the busiest subway stations in Tokyo and the young people's trendiest shopping and entertainment center. Rooms are available either in Japanese or Western style, so one can choose between the traditional Japanese futon or the western bed. It's a quiet neighborough, and I have... More

We found this hotel via internet and we loved it. The room was in a very traditional style which is much better than the usual hotel which look the same everywhere. The staff doesn't speak much English but you can manage to understand. There's a little old lady who is veeery sweet. No English at all, but she manages to... More

I do not understand how this hotel is so well rated on Tripadvsor. The only positive things I can say about this hotel is that the staff was friendly, in particular the very nice manager. However, this hotel is, at best, a dirty and outrageously expensive 2 star stay for backpackers and certainly not a 3 star hotel/ryokan. We had... More

We are very sorry that you felt uncomfortable in your stay due to lack of our much care taken of the room. And we sincerely accept your valuable comments and soon began to improve several service points as indicated, such as: * the reading lamp was repaired. * the Tatami in the room where you stayed have been ordered to... I have lost count of the number of times I have stayed at Fukudaya. I am writing a second review because they have carried out substantial improvements in recent times. The rooms are beautifully presented Japanese style. They have added more private toilets and bathrooms and updated all the fittings. There is wifi throughout the hotel. The location is superb.... Although I'm not sure I'd stay here again, this is an overall great hotel, especially if you're watching your spending. I would give it 3.5 stars. They don't seem to jack up their rates on holidays as much as other places...if at all. I stayed in a 2 person room with my friend with nice futons. The space was small...... More

Myself and 3 friends spent 9 days in Fukudaya, and it was superb. The staff made us feel at home, were constantly helpful and so warm and caring. The costing of the room was very cheap, and the quality exceptional. We loved the "traditional" experience of the futons, and slept well every night. The location is wonderful, only a short... More

Small hotel in good location. Ueno area was perfect for food lovers and electric shoppers and not too expensive location. $100 per night in tokyo was not bad at all. Hotel was not to far from train station and about $20 for taxi to go to Ueno station. Room was clean and so small with sheet bed, but creepy bathroom.... More

We wonder if you made a mistake. Because we are in Shibuya area, not Ueno area, and there are not a sharing hot bathtub on the top floor and restaurant in our hotel. These are not information of our hotel. So please check the name of the hotel you had stayed one more time. More

Hotel Fukudaya is my favourite hotel accommodation in Tokyo. Shibuya and Daikanyama are both a short walk away. Fabulous eating places in the side streets, supermarket and convenience stores close by. You can get the bus outside to Shibuya station (3 minutes). Airport limousine from Haneda and Narita drop you close by at either at Cerulean Tower or Mark City.... More

My family of 3 adults stopped for 2.5 days in Tokyo on our way from Montreal to Thailand as a small gesture of solidarity with the Japanese people. We booked a triple room with bath Japanese-style for 2 nights. From Narita airport we took the Airport Limousine Bus to Cerulian Hotel in Shibuya at 18:30, we could have walked to... More
