This is such a special hotel that I spent some time reading all the BAD reviews so I could understand what there might be to dislike. It seems there are two major categories of complaints: 1. Some people think the décor is dated. I find it interesting that nobody ever says the Peninsula in Hong Kong or the Meurice in... more

We really loved the Okura. It was so very retro. For us it was in a great location, and the neighborhood is very quiet. You can hear crickets chirping outside when you are outside at night. It's conveniently located to the Hibiya line, and the Ginza line isn't too far away. We were in the South building so we did... more

Had the great fortune to be booked by my company at the Okura. Was not particularly pleased when I heard where we would be staying, but I admit I was wrong. Though this hotel is definitely stuck in a time warp, it is, nevertheless, perfectly maintained and authentically stuck in the '60's. The rooms have been updated as good as... more

This hotel does not seem to have been upgraded since the 1960s, it is a real throwback to another era. It is clean but old, and really old fashioned. Public areas clean and functional but confusing to navigate around, many small corridors to get to south wing from main lobby. Room big size but seemed to be no attempt to... more

We stayed in mid-June. This is one of the least user friendly world class hotels. As other the reviewer have mentioned, the internet cost, hassle of setup and lack of reliability preclude this hotel as a business trip venue. We were give a room in the South Tower...connected by an underground corridor. Notwithstanding that this tower has its own front... more

My husband had his laptop and was told it would cost $15 a day for internet usage from the room. But, that we could use the business center on the 2nd floor. When we went to the second floor, they were charging $4 per 15 min. I just had to book a one night hotel room on our last day... more

The pics do not do it justice - the Okura is a superb place to stay in a quiet neighborhood but only minutes from the subway to all that Tokyo has to offer. This hotel has grace and charm in abundance. Staff are friendly, courteous but never stuffy and the concierge always had time to answer my inquiries. The room... more

My boyfriend and I wanted to spend New Year's in Japan and so I found a great airfare + hotel deal on Expedia. I read several reviews of Hotel Okura on TripAdvisor but did not get a feel for the class of this hotel. I figured we were getting something middle-of-the-line. All I can say is WOW! This is a... more

I love the Okura, first stayed there as a kid and more recently on business trips. The decor is 70's but I think it's kind of cool. Have also stayed at the Westin and have been to the Park Hyatt. While these other hotels have excellent staff and very chic furnishings they just don't have the ambiance of the Okura. more

We stayed in the Okura for six nights during a fortnight's holiday in Japan last month. We chose the Okura after having popped into its lobby on a previous visit to Tokyo, and were wowed by the discreet Japanese 70's styling and ambience. Our arrival lived upto the Okura's reputation- our cases were whisked away from us before we had... more
