Even thought the English-speaking staff was very nice, friendly and helpful, this was one of the worst hostels I have ever stayed in and the absolute worst in Japan. It was more like something you'd find in India. The tiny delapidated kitchen/common room was a joke, the overcrowded tiny, tight and smelly dorm room was even worse, and the staff... More

Stayed there a night and decided to go elsewhere. I stayed at tons of hostels oall over the world and this one is one of the worst. They even expect you to check out the NIGHT BEFORE if you have a flight earlier the next day coz the staff doesnt even wake up until 10am! If you checkout the night... More

While the owners are very friendly and helpful, this is one of the most minimalistic hostels I have ever stayed in. Sure, the location is great when wanting to explore Nakano and Shinjuku, but these areas can be reached from other sides of the city (like Asakusa) where there are more hostel options to choose from, for basically the same... I come to Yadoya really overlate, cause my flight to Japan landed on 10pm. But the staff really accept me friendly and give me clean and warm room. If I come to Japan again, sure I love to stay in here again. (^^)

I stayed here twice, back in July 2009 and March-April 2012. It's unfortuante that there isn't a map on the website for the Suzushiro branch (A&C), because it really is a bit of a distance away from the office. (It's about 15min away from Nakano Station, and 10min away from Higashi-Nakano Station.) You have to really concentrate just to get... More

Extremely bad experience. Don't stay there. We have booked 4 nights and they said the dormitory room is full and suggest us staying at Suzushiro C. Indeed it is a building hell far away from Yadoya Guesthouse, far away from Nakano station, a remote residential area that we need to walk with our luggage on snow for 20-30 minutes (the... More

I stayed for a total of 5 nights in the 8 person room. Although it was quite a compact room, I found enough space to store my suitcase and other belongings. The standard of cleanliness was good and I found the staff to be very helpful. Location wise also very good, very easy to get to Shinjuku and change onto... More

The staff was incredibly helpful with showing me things to do and how toget places. The hostel had food and game nights for members to hang out. The rooms were small but the beds were very comfy. It was a very welcoming community especially for a solo traveler.

My partner and I stayed in the Ninja semi-double room for 2 nights and moved to an 8-person dorm room for 1 night. The semi double tatami mat room was very, very crammed. The tatami mat was elevated from the floor and the space left to leave our luggage was so tight it was a constant struggle to move around.... More

I recently stayed at Yadoya in the Tokyo residential neighborhood of Nakano in September 2012. The staff and owners were most accommodating and friendly. I am surprised to have read not good reviews otherwise. For dorm-style rooms the price was 2000 Yen. They have an excellent map detailing all bars, restaurants, etc within the area which I have had an... More
