The hotel is located on the business side of Shinjuku. If you plan on partying in Shinjuku you are on the wrong side of the train station. The hotel lobby is very tired. Rooms are ok and typical of Japanese business hotels. The bathroom was also looking a little tired. Otherwise rooms are clean and small. Use the hotel shuttle... More

I found the New City Hotel to be good value in an expensive city. Liked the location, not far from the main subway system, across the street from a park. I got a "double room" on the 10th floor facing the park (window opens!), which though still small, was comfortable enough for one. The bathroom is tiny and a bit... More

Great service (staff speaks excellent English and are always friendly), good location (just 15mins walk from Shinjuku stn, or a 5mins free shuttle bus ride), "big" room (definitely big for Japanese standards, compared with other business hotels), and great price (relatively cheap for a hotel in Tokyo). The shuttlebus service is really handy - it runs every 20 mins in... More

The room was very small & basic and a bit outdated, and the hotel was not super close to the station I used, but there were no problems, and the price fit the budget. The location is good in that you're in Shinjuku and not off somewhere in the east side of Tokyo, but not great in that it's not... More

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of our 3 week honeymoon travelling around Japan. We found it quite hard to find but once we got there it was easy to walk to the main area of Shinjuku & the station. The hotel was clean & the staff were very friendly, the internet access was the best we... More

I'll be honest, it is not the most modern hotel or the cleanest, but it is cheap, the location is very central, and despite being in the middle of Tokyo you have the green lung of Shinjuku central park practically outside the doorstep! Ok, surrounding this park area are a number of better know hotels. Hotels like the park Hyatt,... More

Although the rooms here were very small (which is not a suprise in Tokyo) I found it to be comfortble. Funny small bath tub in room which was a bit cramped so could not get full body into it. Hot water kettle in my room was usueful. Dispensing water/drink/snack machine in reception area Bag storage available. Quite a long walk... More

I just returned back from the Shinjuku New City Hotel this week & have to say I was pleasently surprised & pleased with the overall stay. Great location, yes it is about a 10 minute walk to the main Shinjuku Station but I wouldn't say 'boring' as some others have mentioned - what do you expect; on street entertainment en... More

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and found it to be more than comfortable. Although the decor is a little outdated (it feels like it needs a small facelift) my non-smoking double room was spacious and clean. It cost me 710 yen to get a taxi from Shinjuku station but I realised afterwards that I could have go... More
