As someone already pointed out, it's a no frills hotel. Not to say it's a dump, but it could probably do with a bit of revamp, and it's defence it's a business hotel. This was the first hotel we stayed in on our Japan trip. It is a 8 minute walk from the Ikebukuro station. The area it is in is pleasant with a variety of convenience stores, restaurants, take away food joints and even a drycleaners up the road. Very near to the ikebukuro station once you get the exit right. Good alternative stay to Shinjuku for the location and price. Next door is a 99Yen convenience shop, nice free coffee in the small hotel lobby. Staff understands English, rooms very clean (typical of all Japanese hotels) /good size.
