I went twice to Sakura Ryokan while I was in Tokyo, in 2008 for 1 week in August and in 2012 for 1 week in March. And whe I come back to Japan, you are sure I am going there again. Let me tell you that I definitely love this little hotel. Ok, it is not luxurious, but tiny and... More

We had an excellent time staying at the Sakura ryokan in Tokyo. We stayed for a total of 5 nights in a Japanese style room and were very comfortable the entire time. I loved the fact that there was free wifi in the rooms, which was great for Skype and general googling. The owners were very friendly and the mother... More

We stayed here for the last three nights of a two week stay in Tokyo a few years ago (not 2011, but I hadn't thought to leave a review before) and were happy with the cleanliness and quality of the room. The owners there were polite and pleasant. However, there is nobody at the front desk at night, and one... More

I'm just going to do this in a "pros and cons" format. PROs: 1. Very cheap room rate. 2. Great breakfast (western buffet breakfast is hard to find in Tokyo for less than $15/person, here it is $8 for better food). 3. Good location in relation to public transit and cool stores (where you can buy great kitchen tools and... More

This Ryokan was located in a great part of Tokyo, within walking distance of both a subway line and a JR Station. It is virtually on Kappabashi St (known as Kitchen town) and walking distance from the tourist attractions of Asakusa. Our room was Japanese style with a bathroom. The size was on the larger size for a ryokan but... More

Stayed at Sakura Ryokan for 9 nights... Room was great - clean, quiet, comfortable with everything you need. Price is good, location's great and the owners are friendly. Wifi is excellent, and it's cheap for doing laundry. 5 minutes to Iriya station which is on the same line as Ginza, Roppongi, Tsukiji, Ebisu etc. The area is quiet and not... More

I love this place - I had a Japanese style room with tatami mat floor and a futon to sleep on. Tho small it was cleverly organized and had all the amenities I needed (sink for washing, closet, small table, tea set, etc.). It's in Ueno neighborhood - an older, low-rise area - and on a quiet back street, an... More

Stayed in mid April and not impressed. Had to change rooms and this confused the owners (or so they reckoned) they overcharged us 18,000 yen and then refused to enter into discussions. Even our Japanese friend couldn't get them to see reason. Also overcharged another travelling friend for one night. Very dissapointed with the rooms. Tthey stank terribly of stale... More

If you are traveling on a budget to Tokyo, this is a decent place to stay, located in a quiet street 5 minutes walk from Iriya Subway Station and 1 stop from Ueno Park.I stayed 4 nights at this place in a western style room, it was clean but very small, old furniture, TV only in Japanese... The staff can... More
