This was a lovely traditional guesthouse in Asakusa. We were two couples, and we stayed in a large room with a screen divider down the middle. Bedding consisted of futons which were pulled out by the staff in the evening while you were out having dinner. We found them very comfortable. Our private bathroom was traditional Japanese style. Breakfasts were... more

My spouse, myself, and my two college age kids stayed here for 2 nights in early June'09. We paid about $320/night for our Japanese style room as they charge by the person. A little bit expensive but a neat experience for someone having never stayed in a ryokan before. The ryokan was a little bit hard to find even with... more

A ryokan experience in the lovely old part. Metro station not far ( 10 to 15 minutes), rooms slightly smaller but adequate, location easy to find. Great neighbour hood, lot's of bars but the place is so beautifully decorated that we relaxed mostly here only. JR pass holders, plz. check before you come - what we understood from other guests... more

This a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) and I can't recommend it strongly enough. The experience of staying in a room with sliding doors, tatami mats and futons was such fun, plus the inn has two onsen (public baths) fed by a local hot spring and these were amazing! You get a terrific feel for traditional Japanese culture and yet it... more

My sister, adult nephew and his girlfriend and I stayed here on April 17th. I agree with other reviewers that all of the staff were very very good, courteous, helpful, friendly and professional. Although our room (with private shower and bath) was a very good size for my sister and I to share, it clearly needed a new paint job... more

Wonderful accomodations in an interesting part of the city. Rooms are beautiful and staff are charming and very helpful. A bit expensive but worth the money - large rooms with excellent atmosphere - rooms are very relaxing. Highly recommended. more

lovely historic part of town. We stayed with our 7 month old baby, and whilst have to say would be unlikely to repeat the ryokan experience until he is older, it was still fun for a short period. rooms were on the small side, but had an antechamber to compensate. about a 15 min walk from the nearest metro station;... more

Sukerokunoyado Sadachiyo Ryokan is a charming and beautifully appointed traditional Ryokan in the Asakusa neighborhood of Taito-ku, Tokyo. Located footsteps away from Senso-ji temple, and right in the heart of Asakusa's dining and entertainment district, the ryokan still manages to be a traditional and quiet outpost for weary travelers. Though there are clearly trade-offs to be made for guests here.... more

Having only 24 hours in Tokyo on our way to Thailand, my friend and I decided to stay in a ryokan to make the most of our limited time in Japan. Sukeroku No Yado Sadachiyo did not disappoint! Tucked into a small neighborhood in Asakusa, this small ryokan provided great accommodation and all the charm we were hoping for. Even... more

We are a British family of 4, with children aged 7 and 9 ,who were at the end of a fantastic holiday. We wanted the traditional "Edo" (the name before Tokyo) experience, and we were not disappointed. We were greeted with our names outside the ryokhan in Japanese. We had slippers and kimonos in our rooms. There were no beds... more
