Very cheap, staff friendly like in many hostels in Japan. The kitchen is clean, convenient to have 3 PCs with free internet. Very close to Asakusa subway station. Rooms are very tiny, no much room between the wall and the ladder to climb to the upper bed. Bring your earplugs: the walls are so thin that you can easily hear... more

Lovely hostel. I normally stay in hotels, but wanted to cut the cost in Tokyo so I had more spending money. So glad I chose Khaosan Tokyo. Staff are great and speak excellent English. There is information everywhere on how to get to places and local attractions and trips you can take, but the staff will also help you out.... more

We got the private room that you get to by going through a 4 bed dorm. That was kind of weird, but the room was really nice. There was a bunk bed, a tiny sofa, and a balcony overlooking the river. The other people we travelled with got a private room that was really just a closet with a bunk... more

We booked this hostel for 7 nights but only stayed 1 night because we went to Kyoto instead. Our twon room (bunk beds) was inside (!) another room and we always had to enter a room for 4 people before entering our own room. Some people might find that disturbing because we had a key to their but but they... more

Great location when you find it. Minutes from the subway station and a short walk to the temples and other conveniences. The rooms are small where you have to walk over the bed to enter the room but for the price and location this is pretty much the best you can get. Do try all the washrooms because they all... more

This is a place where is in good location to see Tokyo in both day and night time. I am not surprise to a population density in Tokyo, that is how you could feel in when you live in this hostel. There are a lot of beds in a room, toilets in a floor are not that clean. One I... more

Khaosan Tokyo Smile was a rip off. We gave 24hrs notice to cancel the 2nd night of our stay and the manager forced us to pay a 50% deposit on that 2nd night. My booking receipt from hostelworld.com stated 24hr canncellation and we did just that. The manager of the hostel then pointed to a hand-written sign that asked for... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here last year and loved it. The place is run by a lovely couple who are very helpful. It is located close to Asakusa station and the beautiful Senso-ji. We had a beautiful view of the Sumida river and the Asahi building from our private room. The private room had a bunk bed and it... more

This hostel is a wonderful place to stay in Tokyo. The rooms are very small, if that is an issur for you then this place might not be for you. But, all of Tokyo has small rooms. The bathrooms are down the hall, but were cleaned several times when I was there. There is a kitchen downstaires where you can... more
