We stayed at economical Jeni for five nights and were very happy with this as a base to explore the entire island. While there are plenty of tourist beach-side places to stay we prefered something more centrally located on the island and something where we could mingle more with the locals. Stayed at the Hostal Jeni for 3 nights after having to leave Hotel Es Mercadal due to their very weak A/C and inhospitable owner. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE GOVERNMENT STAR RATING. THE HOSTAL JENI IS AT LEAST A 3-STAR HOTEL. Stayed in what was referred to as a 'junior suite'. Really just a little more spacious double room.... more
Very nice place, familiar feeling, stunning location to travel around the island with good and fast access to Cala Pregonda (our favourite cala) and the port of Fornells. Es Mercadal is also a lively place for the evenings with plenty of restaurants and bars. Fantastic value for money! more
At 44 EUROS/night, this was an incredible find! Unless you're staying at one of the calas (beaches) on the island, you're going to need a car to get around.
