Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thank you Salvatore and crew! What a great experience! Our family spent 9 days at this lovely hilltop hotel. Stunning views from our balcony. Breakfast had the tastiest scrambled eggs! The restaurant had amazing food and pastries! But their genuine interest in making us happy with any requests we made. I could go on! Stay here and you will not regret it!

It was the most amazing experience in that wonderful hotel. Salvatore and his staff went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The swimming pool was very clean, the food was extremely delicious and very reasonable prices. The hotel had a massive garden with a very quiet country setting, amongst olive trees.

We were there in Durazzano at the Hotel GUARDANAPOLI for two days it was a great view of the city and the large hotel has a swimming pool, good food and rooms. No problem communication with reception asked something. But a bit far to the cities of Napoli and Sarento. Greetings from Poland.

We looked for a place with a nice pool in the surroundings of Caserta. We where very dissapointed to find out that the picture on their website is not existing. There is, and never was, a pool. The garden is just nice to look at from your window, as it is hardly to be reached from your room, and not suitable to relax in. The room is small and outdated, but ok and with wifi. Nice view, perfect beds and sleeping quality. The road to the palace of Caserta is about 30 min. 15 min. to the nice small town of st. agatha dei Gothi. We stayed 2 nights and found out the hotel is mainly frequented by touringcars ( coming in at 19 hrs. and leaving the place in the early morning). An enormous big and nice banqueting salle for having dinner (really excellent!! Cheap wine, but touristic prices for the courses; very good olive oil, witch can be bought) , lively with the guests of the touringcar. But when having breakfast at 09.00, they are already gone, you are alone in the enormous room, and the staff is cleaning the salle with all windows open (not very nice, and very windy). The first breakfast was one of the best we had in Italy, the second more average (??? Maybe the guests of the bus had already eaten it all?), but we became a cooked egg! (The only time in Italy). The girl at the reception is very friendly; some other members of the staff seems not really be suited for a welcoming job in this business. So, what shall I say... A bit mixed feelings...

This hotel can only be described as a faded gem. Be aware that the image you see on the web is that of the side entrance, no longer used. The hotel is situated in the hills above Capua, near a little village called Durazzano (follow the via appia south, and you will come across the signs pointing left up into the hills). It's location is serene, high above the surrounding area. Family owned, this is the perfect place to totally 'chill'. Loved by the locals (always a good sign for us) there is always an animated group there each evening. The hotel is open all year, but is geared for the tourist season beginning in mid May and ending in early October. We arrived in early May, and the hotel had chosen that week to install a lift, so there was much banging and drilling throughout the day - this work should be finished by the time you read this. Salvatore, the owner, (who speaks better English than my Italian) cannot do too much for you, the food is rustic but superb, and very very inexpensive - a 3 course meal for two with wine cost less than €30. The rooms are spacious, clean but basically furnished. The views from your balcony are stunning, open rolling countryside stretching away for more than 20 miles - and the dawn chorus each morning has only been beaten for us by an African dawn. Not the place to bring children (there is absolutely nothing for them to do, nor any English TV), but the place to find yourself, let the troubles of the world fall away, and enjoy an Italy that tourists drive past whilst searching for the normal hotel blandness that we all know is out there. A car is absolutely essential, and with one you can find a plethora of local restaurants and bars in quite spectacular surroundings. Visiting the Guardanapoli is a travellers, not a tourists experience. A lovely place. To put it all in perspective, when we stayed we were the only guests, and on arrival we were met by a young man in a sweatshirt and jeans who brought the owners to 'see to us'. Within 15 minutes the same young man reappeared in the hotels uniform, with a collar and tie, and that set the standard for the rest of our stay. Lovely place, lovely food, lovely people. A timeless place.
