It was a dark and stormy night... in fact it really was. My partner and I stayed at The Pelican on a very rainy November Saturday night en route from the ferry at Dover to a wedding near Bath the next day, and had guessed that Hungerford would be as far as we could drive that night without pegging out.... more

I stayed one night with a friend on a roadtrip. The Inn definitely has character. It is very clean and superbly furnished. The surounding is very well done as well. Food (dinner & breakfast) was excellent, and the stuff friendly. Maybe the manager was a bit reserved, but not unfriendly. The only down side is that it's just off the... more

Everything about this Hotel is what you would expect with a quirky difference, Prices are very reasonable - £49 single, £65 double - all en-suite. Service is informal, but efficient, Food is very reasonably priced for the quality you receive. We stayed on a Saturday night and stayed for Sunday lunch - what an experience! Pianist played on Baby Grand... more

Stayed at The Pelican Inn for 2 nights with my wife in May 2009. Apparently all the rooms were re-furbished in October 2008 and having stayed there before, they are now very impressive. We found the Staff to be extremely pleasant and helpful, and also the Manager - Food was excellent - both Breakfast and Dinner. We paid £65 per... more

Room was spacious & bright & well furnished. The meals we had were very enjoyable and the staff courteous. My only complaints were an unfriendly proprietor and brakfast only served till 9.00 a.m. including weekends more

We were staying local and popped in for a meal. The service was good and two of the fish courses were ok. But i had the steak main and it was awful. It has to be the worst steak I’ve ever had! It was un edible It's also very, very expensive for pub grub! The house wine was £4.15 a... more

We stayed in the family room (Room 3) which was nicely appointed, very spacious and with a large bathroom. The beds were very comfortable. However, the room hadn't been fully prepared for our arrival - with an unemptied waste bin, no soap and a dirty towel in the bathroom and a half drunk pint of beer on the side. The... more

Stayed just one night for a nearby function. Room (3) was very small so glad not to be there longer. The rooms and pub are very smart and modern, but in the refurbishment some basics seem to have been overlooked. When paying £80 per night I don't expect to have to make a cup of tea on the floor, or... more
