Of the 15 properties we stayed on during our Coast to Coast walk, this was the only one that failed to meet the grade. The greeting was perfunctory, the room poorly decorated and kept, and a light sleeper would be kept awake well into the night from the noise both in the bar and outside the hotel. On the plus... The Black Bull in Reeth was probably the worst place I stayed during my coast to coast walk. When we arrived we weren't made to feel particularly welcome. The room and en-suite were a good size but looked like they hadn't been decorated since the 80s. There was only a bath available with no shower, although after a hard day... More

I was put up here for a week by the company I work for when I was working in the area. I was a little apprehensive when I did an internet search and saw some of the reviews. However, I had a wonderful stay. My room had a lovely view of the village centre. There is a small shop three... More

Stayed here with 7 others over the New Year period, and it was, I guess as expected. Rooms were basic, but clean, ours was freezing cold, others stifling hot. We had hot water one night, but not the 2nd, until we told the staff, and they "put the immersion heater on". Food in the restauarant was very good, and we... More

An old building yes but smelly dirty and very very unfriendly staff. On arrival we were told to wait as the man behind the bar was too busy to see to us! Our room was old, miserable and needed to be totally redone. We all went away smelling of stale rancid fat!

Everything is charming about Reeth and the yorkshire dales except the Black bull inn. I love charming and quaint inns and I don't mind old and quirky. But this hotel is a filthy, noisy, mess. An open drain pipe drains soapy water right outside the front door. The rooms are dirty and the bathrooms have slow drains and inoperable plumbing.... More

We have stayed at the Black Bull in Reeth. We read a lot of the comments before we went and if we had gone by the reviews we would not have gone. We decided to go and judge for ourselves. We found the Black Bull to be a very old building with the need for a bit of TLC in... More

we stayed here one night on the C2C. We ended up with atwin room with a tiny en suite......the sliding door would not close and the room smelt rather fusty and damp. The TV did not appear to work either. Dinner was good and reasonably priced but breakfast was a disappointment...pretty average scrambled eggs . We only wanted a couple... More
