Me and my Girlfriend Arrived at the ship inn, We exited our car and straight away the place was beautiful, the garden was well looked after and the sun was shining. We went inside the pub to order some food, inside was also very looked after, Typical country pub style, And the staff were really friendly. We sat down outside... More

On perusing the Good Pub Guide we decided to visit the above for dinner and, on arrival, it looked very inviting. As it was Bank Holiday Monday there was a limited menu! I ordered the homemade fish cakes (these were lovely) and the roast dinner, which unfortunately for £13.50 was very small. ( A couple of slices of beef, 3... More

thank you for your feedback, we appreciate comments to better ourselves. I would like to make the following observations: the limited menu you speak of comprised of 7 starters and 10 main courses, so if this isn't enough choice for you, then we can only apologize. We're glad you enjoyed the fishcakes which is one of our best sellers. The... More

thank you for your feedback, we always value our customers' comments, good or bad. When you ordered the ham, eggs and chips, you must have noticed the price at the same time, and if you thought this was too pricey, you could have chosen anything else from our extensive menu with prices for a main course starting at £9.95. On our way back to London we stopped at the Ship after being recommended the place for good food. It was Easter Sunday and we hadn't booked but the staff were happy to find us a table. The food was top drawer and the service very helpful and friendly. We will definitely return next time we go down to Dorset.

I'm really sad to write this, but after years of it being a family favourite (even took the in laws to reveal our first pregnancy here 2011) it really isn't the same. We used to be blown away by a tasty, pub meal. Tonight we went with our 1 year old. Stood at the bar for a while until being... More

thank you for your review, we value your comments. there was indeed a booking in your name for 6.30 for 2 people and it is my understanding that a highchair was offered initially but refused, however when you asked for one, it was duly given. The Ship Inn is a family, friendly country pub which prise itself on good food... More

I hesitate to give bad reviews as I never want to adversely affect local businesses, however, our experience of Sunday lunch was so awful, I feel that I have to. My husband and I and our 2 year old daughter visited The Ship on Sunday 10th February. I chose The Ship as I believed that they would serve good quality... More

thank you for your feedback, we appreciate customers' comments. good or bad. we use one of the best butchers in Wiltshire if not the country, the beef being topside from Aberdeen Angus/Hereford cattle reered in Wiltshire and the chicken is organic free range. When we portion the chicken, the result is two breasts and two legs with thighs which is... More

Needed a half way meet for lunch with old friends and decided on The Ship although considered the "sister" establishment at Upper Woodford but felt this had the "edge". Both parties battled through snow which. although it did not lay, could not have encouraged trade and thus it was VERY quiet. However there was an extensive Menu AND an almost... More

Went with a friend on Friday evening. Really excellent staff: attentive, friendly, helpful, all you could wish for. My friend chose the haddock and chips - served on a slate, looked beautiful and tasted delicious. I chose the crab linguini - really, really good. We couldn't manage a pudding but really enjoyed our evening. My only gripe is that the... More

I met my cousin at the Ship for Lunch 2 days ago. Extensive menu which in my book not always a good sign. We both had the fish fillet. When it came it was on a bed of HEAPED mashed potatoes and onion. There were tomatoes on the side of the plate and watercress but it was a job to... More

Chose "Thai Beef Curry" from the specials menu. A truely excellent dish with plenty of peppers and strips of tender beef. Well prepared with a portion of rice, mango chutney and papadom. Hopefully this meal will remain on their menu.
