Authentic old-world building is a great location, right in the village centre. Great food and drink at good value. Cosy bar with a wood-burning stove that is always lit. Our bedroom was very comfortable with a good quality bed, new TV and compact but top-class shower room. The breakfast was fantastic - very well cooked and nicely presented. It is... more

We've known the Lister Arms since the mid 60's and were looking forward to staying for a mini break. The situation is wonderful and the building a good, solid stone built Dales hostelry. Our room (room 8) was adequate, but too small for a second chair. The television (OK, we never turned it on) was similar to one we had... more

First impressions take your breath away, very pretty inn situated by the village green in one of the most popluar walking areas. Our bedroom was very clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. Even though they offered Thwaites beer we were disappointed the Black Sheep ale range was not on offer or a larger range of popular... more

Stayed here for two nights and the location cannot be faulted. We booked a standard room and did not realise until after we left that we had been put in a small double (and charged for a standard). Notwithstanding this we had a lovely stay with friendly and helpful staff. The room was small and did not have views of... more

The Lister is a nice place to stay the rooms beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bar and resturant side seems to have suffered though from the buy-out by Thwaites. The food is good though very basic, certainly it seems to be a much more Burger 'n' Chips menu than I remember from visiting a year ago and a quote... more

Thank you for your comments - we’re pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us, and thank you for the feedback about the food. Thwaites have owned the Lister since June 2007 and when it comes to creating our seasonal menus, our focus is very much on quality, not quantity of dishes. Our approach to food is a...

We have just returned from a 4 Day Break at the 'Lister Arms' . It was everything we had hoped for. Excellent Pub in a beautiful location, ideal for Walkers. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Beds were very comfortable. Lovely powerful shower. All the amenities we needed. The food was well cooked, plentiful and delicious.... more

We didn't stay here, but had dinner in the restaurant becuase the last time we came here a year ago the food looked great and had good reviews. Our dinner this time was truly disappointing, the food was mediocre at best and totally overpriced for what you get. No longer fresh produce and well cooked. We were told by the... more

Thank you for your comments and we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed on this visit. All of the team at the Lister Arms are fully committed to preparing fresh, home-cooked food based on what’s in season. Both of us were on duty that evening and we’re sorry that you didn’t alert us to these issues on the...

We have just spent a night at the Lister Arms, we had a wonderful relaxing stay, the pub is warm and welcoming with log fires and comfortable seating area's. Our room was small but very well presented with a comfortable bed and excellent shower. We had our evening meal in the restaurant which was very nice and reasonably priced. The... more

Recently spent a three night break here in the relaxed atmosphere of Lister Arms, Malham. A warm friendly pub with a management team that are going the extra distance to keep standards high. The rooms are warm and comfortable, bar well stocked with local cask and continental beers and the home made food excellent, well above average for a similar... more

We arrived at the Lister Arms on a snowy Thursday afternoon to be greeted with a warm welcome. We stayed in room 2 at the front of the building which overlooks the village and the Dales beyond an amazing site when covered with snow. The room was well equipped and had a portable electric heater as well as the main... more
