We have just stayed at Dowfold House with our new dog Lucy and must congratulate Jill and Rupert for their hospitality towards both ourselves and Lucy. They both made our stay one of the years delights for us. The room was tastefully decorated, well equipped and spaceous. This was a concern to us as this was our first trip away... more

Only a short drive to Durham and we caught the bus in. the location of this b and b is superb with beautiful grounds, lovely rooms to relax in and great views. A quiet, lovely family home in which we were made to feel like family. thank you for this lovely experience. more

The offer of a bed for the night at Dowfold House was a Godsend, with the world and his wife in Newcastle for Uni Freshers, the Great North Run and the last one day cricket international. The icing on the cake was Jill and Rupert’s hospitality, the lovely setting, and the spacious and comfortable room. What a lovely old house,... more

I usually stay at hotels when I am away, however I had heard about this b&b and thought I would give it a go. Nothing was too much trouble for Jill and Rupert and the accomodation was superb - the shower in the green room was excellent! I would thoroughly recommend Dowfold House to anyone. Keep up the good work... more

Lovely little B&B run by a nice couple. Our rooms were spacious, tastefully furnished and very clean. The breakfast was fantastic, too, with a very nice English Breakfast and lots of other choices if you prefer something else in the morning. We would definitly stay there again and can only recommend it! more

Jill and Rupert have a great B&B, and the numeral 5 is not high enough to adequately express the "cleanliness" category. Trip Advisor really should allow for a rating of breakfast as well, as it'd also be off the scale. more

My wife and I stayed at Dowfold House in the summer of 2008 as part of a long trek North to collect our son from University. It lived up to its promise in every respect (we didn't go to Weardale for the weather, fortunately). In our view Jill and Rupert have got it right. The rooms are delightful and comfortable,... more

My wife and I have stayed at Dowfold House many times over the last 2-3 years. We discovered it by chance (well Google actually) having stayed previously at pretty much every other B&B/Hotel within a 15 mile radius over several years beforehand. We had family living close by, but having moved firstly to London and then ultimately to Bristol regular... more

We stayed at Dowfold House for 2 nights whilst visiting family and friends in the area. The rooms were really beautiful, the breakfasts were spectacular and we felt really well looked after. The kids really enjoyed playing croquet on the lawn, and swinging on the tree swing. We'll definitely stay here again if we're in the area. more
