We stayed here in February 2012 for one night. We thought the grounds and the room were beautiful (we upgraded to the bridal suite) and especially liked the double bath that sat under the sky light. We were surprised by the noise of the aircraft - it was so loud - but we actually didnt mind it. The biggest let... More

I stayed there last night. What a horrible experience. Looks great as you arrive but my tiny single bedroom had the previous occupants dirty sheets still on the bed and the duvet cover had holes. The bathroom stank of foul drains, very unpleasant. I was moved to an alternative room number 20 and the bathroom in this room also stank!... More

Walked into room 21, and was greeted with a foul smell of drains in the room. We had to open the windows and close the bathroom door to try and clear the smell. I complained and was told it was the drains. When I checked out I complained about it again and was told it was because we have had... More

It's very, very close to Stansted airport. So you'll hear the planes, okay? If you're cool with that then it's a great location. The building looks beautiful from the outside and the grounds and surrounding countryside are very pretty. I have to say it was a bit of a let down, though. When we'd first carried our own suitcases up... More

just got back from a two day stay on a wowcher deal. The place looks lovely from the outside and the grounds are imaculate (well done to the grounds man who at the time of our stay was still working in the rain). On arrival we were booked in and left to carry our own luggage up to the room. (would... More

read reviews of this hotel before booking so was aware of aircraft noise, which we did not find a problem. However i did naively think that the problems hilighted by previous guests would have been adressed, this sadly was not the case. The floor in our superior room was still dusty with bits of paper around, 2 curtains hooks were broken and... My wife and I went to the restaurant 3 yrs ago when it was Antons and it was a wonderful dining experience. We went back 6th May 2012 and were excited. The place is beautiful, lovely setting, hotel looks good but we just went for dinner. Bit of a let down on how it used to be. Service was terrible.... More

The most important thing you need to know about this hotel is that it feels like it's on the end of the runway of Stansted airport. This is fine if you're a) looking for an airport hotel or b) an aeroplane enthusiast. Less great if you're looking for a good night's sleep away from a toddler. We were given a... More

Spent two nights in late April using a KGB voucher. Hotel looks nice from the outside although there isn't any sign to indicate the entrance ! Reception was pleasant but not overwhelming and no offer to take baggage through the many doors to our room. This turned out to be a bit small and was at a corner right on... More

Had a two night stay on KGB coupon to visit family living nearby, so it was very good value for 2 nights b&B. The hotel looks lovely, and on arrival the reception staff were friendly, but our room (No 31) was pokey and very noisy, the badly fitting double glazed windows didn't keep out road or aircraft noise. We did... More
