Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Oki.. it's a lovely spot and the staff are great. I was in the supposedly Superior room No 9. Just don't book when it's cold outside because the heating doesn't work and if on business or need a WiFi connection I would suggest you book any other room than Inside No 9.

It’s not my usual standard, but I’ve driven up from London to spend the night in a Leicestershire country house. Ghost hunting @gkrothleycourt 👻 It’s quaint, a single bed in the attic space that was the old servants quarters. Only £45 for the night and behind the house I can hear the local river flowing and babbling in the near distance. Quick check-in, friendly service at the bar. There is no lift, so be ready for the stairs…. Especially if you’re at the top. If you’re a light sleeper, then with all the creaking floor boards, this may not be for you. The hotel is showing its ages in places… WiFi is not great in all areas, the windows are probably listed and do not fully close. So expect a draft. I checked in at about 10.30pm and wanted to get to my room and sleep. I woke up at about 2am to go to the loo… first, I discovered dried and faded blood stains inside my duvet and sheets. Not great. I went to the loo, did my business and flushed. It went away. Then for the rest of the night all I could hear was gurgling pipes. I woke up again at 5am freezing. The radiators were on full but no heat. On a night where it was frosty and roads were being gritted, you expect heating. I went back to the loo, as I am at that age, and discovered that my earlier visit had returned up the pipes. In the morning at 8am, I woke to no heating still. Worse, there was no hot water. So I went down to check out, freezing cold, having not washed, with a toilet system that doesn’t work and kept me awake at night, and blood stained sheets. I shared this with the reception staff, a young lady with green hair. She just kept saying oh no, and finished with “you’ve told us now”. No mention of the word sorry, nothing offered to make me feel less let down. I started the night thinking this was a quaint little place on a budget, in a nice rural location. I would not touch this place or any other Greene King pub hotel with a barge pole.

All the staff were welcoming, friendly and lovely. We mostly ate in the bar with our dogs. The food was fab - we complimented the chefs as the food was lovely. Our room (in the Mews) was a little dated but clean and welcoming. We do understand that having dogs (and being incredibly wet outside) the Mews was ideal Would we come back - YES, definitely

No welcome from receptionist with green hair, no interaction at all. Very hard to get info. Asked re taxi and she produced a list for me to call my own, OK but no phone signal. She did arrange one in the end. I said I had tried to call 5 times that day with no answer, Nothing. No response at all. Room was in a different block. Very warm all night with continuous noise of heating pipes. Thin walls, can hear next door. Horrid hard pillows. Room very tired. Exit door has no handle, you have to turn the latch and pull which for some reason is below hip level. Same lady at check out. No interaction again. No "how was your stay"! Unbelievable.

Stayed here when my house had ‘flooded’ and was uninhabitable. Staff welcoming and friendly, lovely food and great homely atmosphere. Lia the receptionist was always friendly and made friends with our dogs. We stayed in room 32 and ate in the bar many times throughout

Great potential as the place looks traditional old English pub. Unfortunately I have never experienced such a cheap tasteless food ever. We know you use already made meals, however choose good quality and people will be happy! The soup was water and no seasoning whatsoever… The steaks pie was rock hard and two peaces of beef maybe…. PS the menu actually sounds really classic and tasty…such a shame!!

Absolutely wonderful, it has flaws but it’s fantastic value for money and very beautiful. Staff were friendly and really helpful despite it being busy and we felt properly looked after. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and they even had the fires going. The garden is a nice addition too. We are already talking about booking another stay there next year.

Stayed for one night, we found the staff to be inattentive with a general can’t be bothered attitude. The food quality was extremely poor for both breakfast and lunch and certainly not worth the price we paid. The room was clean but well worn. We won’t be back.

Stayed here for a couple of days with family. We had rooms in the annex which were great .Comfortable beds and all you need in a room. Breakfasts were good and plenty to choose from the menu. Evening meals were excellent and the hotel is very festive with all the Christmas trees situated through out.Staff were friendly and attentive. Good opportunity to take lovely photos especially the beautiful Chapel which is next to the restaurant. Bonus it snowed when we stayed there so great photos. The only downside WI FI is dreadful despite hotel has had new routers .Over all a fantastic place to stay.
