The staff were unbelievably friendly and accommodating! Nothing was too much trouble. We had the suite and sadly missed the shower however everything was finished to a high standard. The food was excellent - but only if you like game and seafood. The meals are fabulous but rather expensive. Though you dont mind paying if it's good. Christian (owner &... more

I can confirm the impressions of another reviewer concerning stuffed dead animals at this hotel - yes, it's true there is an inflationary number of skulls, antlers and dead animals used as tapestry inside the entire hotel. The place could be more inviting if the absent swiss owner decided to focus on decent interior design as the building offers opportunities... more

My wife and I like to travel and usually spend 3 days maximum in one location before moving on. However I could have easily stayed here for our full two weeks away. The host , Shaz as she insisted on being called, was welcoming, professional, and at the end of the stay felt more like a friend than a host.... more

Visited this hotel while visiting relatives in Helmsdale. As others have mentioned it has traditional style, but as it has been recently renovated is modern and clean, not tired at all. The manager was great, so friendly and welcoming without being intrusive, we were settled at a large roaring fire within minutes and were joined by a few locals and... more

We stayed at the Bridge Hotel for a rare night of luxury on a tandem journey between Land's End and John o'Groats. The staff were entirely unfazed by our lycra-clad travel-battered appearance, and could not have made us more welcome. Our experience was entirely positive. Everyone we met was helpful and friendly. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean, and with... more

I stayed at the Bridge Hotel in Helmsdale on June 24th 2007 for 1 night. The comfortable bed was covered with a gorgeous burgundy quilt and had crisp linen and a soft duck down duvet that reminded me of my childhood. The room, the bathroom and indeed the whole hotel was spotlessly clean to a standard that has sadly disappeared... more

My husband and I found the Bridge Hotel in Helmsdale very comfortable and accomodating. The staff were very friendly, although not local people which was somewhat of a disappointment. The decor is that of a traditional hunting lodge and we found it very interesting. Our room was probably one of the larger rooms and overlooked the community "square" in front... more

The hotel was completely renovated a few years ago and therefore inside is very new looking - unusual for a Highland hotel as most of them are a little tired these days. Helmsdale is situated on the side of a salmon river and Sutherland is sporting estate country therefore its no surprise that the hotel has a ‘Hunting and a... more

The Bridge Hotel in Helmsdale in Scotland should be avoided. The people who own it are friendly and breakfast was okay although the toast and teapot were cleared away without asking if I was finished. But the rooms and the actual hotel are appalling. It is covered with stuffed dead animals, the enormous lounge has stag heads all over it... more
