The place is lovely and very picturesque. when you enter the grounds there is a barrir, and a sign at the side saying "automatic barrier" so you just drive straight up to it and it opens. It isn't... Everything about this hotel was perfect apart from the size of our room. All the rooms are named and ours was called Baize. Both the bedroom and the en suite were unacceptably small. We would not return to this hotel if we had to stay in the same room again. More

My mother and I went for afternoon tea at the hotel with my two children. From the minute we entered the hotel we were uncomfortable. There was a wedding reception in progress and we had to pick our way through the guests to get to the room where afternoon tea was being served and even had to walk through the... More

We held our civil partnership here in January, the whole day went without a hitch, very well organisd , thanks to Jessica and Marco, accomadated and fed 50 day guests and 70 evening guests with no hitches. Food was excellent, rooms were excellent , quite a few guests stayed over. Would totally recommend. More

I recently stayed here whilst on a business trip. Initially I was concerned that the road nearby would be an issue with regard to noise however the once inside this was clearly not an issue. The room was a generous size, the bathroom as most are in hotels. I ate in the restaurant in the evening and although the food... More

We stayed at the Woodlands for their 'Dirty Dancing' themed dinner. We had an absolute blast. The food was great, the dancefloor was full all night (not one song played by the DJ cleared the floor), the staff were fab and the room was lovely. This was our 3rd party night in 14 months at the Woodlands and the level... More

Have recently enjoyed a 'themed night' [the rocky horror show] at The Woodlands. It was held in their marquee, which was a touch underheated for this time of year and some guests did put their coats back on for the evening. The marqee was beautifully decorated and plenty of attention to detail had been given. The price was excellent at... More

My partner & I had a two course lunch in the restaurant. The main course of Whitby Haddock & real chips were superb but we were let down by the sweet of apple crumble & custard. The crumble came in the smallest dish you could imagine & was almost all crumble & hardly any apple, along with the tiniest jug... More
