My wife, adult daughter and I stayed at The Tower Guesthouse in Church Street, Roscrea, on the night of 29 June 2006, at a triple room rate of Euro 85 including breakfast. And it was not a happy experience. We failed to observe the "For Sale" sign on the building until we were departing. Perhaps that explains the poor quality service and the run down feel of the place. Our room was cramped and very ordinary. We ate that night in The Tower's Refectory Restaurant. We waited and waited to place our order, and waited much longer for our food to be served. In the meantime, another large table of diners had given up hope, complained to the waitress and walked out. Our meal was not worth our wait. Next morning's breakfast was our worst in Ireland, in the nearly three weeks that we were there. Considering that The Tower is close to the town centre and is an impressive looking building, it doesn't deliver the quality facilities and service that a guest has the right to expect.
