We had a fabulous time, mostly due to the 3 day trip into venezula-staying inn the jungle, a trip to Kanaima falls and flying over Angel Falls. Margarita island is beautiful, the ocean and desert at the same time. Clean and friendly resort. The Dunes is nicest resort we saw during a bus tour. No problem with the food. People do not relize when your going to a different country than you are used to that things, food, people, rooms, decor, style, appliances, bedding, colors, showers, everything is different !!!! We spent one day at the Dunes resort and I wouldn't ever go back the place was filthy the toilets had crap up them, the pool bar was filthy with flies all over the place and the food was awful! The beach was quite good but the queue to get a drink was not so good had to wait ages... more

The overall award of 3 is because not all rooms are of the same standard and the hotel is quite isolated. Taxis are cheap and ordered by reception and the trip t town is only 5 mins, crazy drivers and some ropy cars. Had a great 2 weeks in Dunes hotel.
