Citotel is not a chain of luxury hotels -- they just offer decent accommodation for a decent price. But the lack of luxury is largely compensated for by the friendliness of the service. Guests are made to feel "part of the family".
Epingliers (hat-pins, because of the city's past in hat-making) does not sport a restaurant, but there is an excellent place (La Garçonniere) just next door. Prices here are a bit steep (by ordinary tourists' standards) but the food and the wine are well worth it.
Troyes itself is a bit off the beaten track (as Reims and Epernay draw most of the Champagne visitors) but has definite charm. Its wooden-beamed houses and narrow streets have been converted into small, cozy restaurants and shops. The churches are famous for their wealth of stained-glass windows fortunately untouched by the war, and well worth a visit.
