A lovely, family run small hotel in an atmospheric village in the mountains of Sicily. The room was pretty, the food and wine outstandingly good, and the service was quite exceptional. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

This was an enjoyable 3 night stay as a base for cycling locally and a sprint to Syracuse. Well run with decent restaurant attached. My only complaint is that the matresses were poor - vintage backpackers I would say, and to add insult to injury they had plastic covers, which soon found their way into the wardrobe. The interior renovation... More

The well in the reception area and the name itself hint at the origins of Il Castello as the town's fortified centre. Battlements and dungeons are long gone and have been replaced by an excellent and really good value small hotel. Rooms are large and comfortable, all with WiFi. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon to find the... More

Hotel and town are wonderful, but do be aware that finding the hotel is not easy, although it is signposted, and parking in these towns can be challanging (there was a festa that evening and diversions were in place which didnt help!).When you do you find Il Castello you will be pleased you did ,the decor of the hotel has been... I really enjoyed my stay here. Yes it's true that reception isn't open the entire day, so either call in advance to let them know your estimated arrival time, or call when you've reached it (the cell phone numbers are on the door) within 5 minutes someone will be there to let you in and show you your room. Rooms... More

The hotel is in an ideal location in order to organise excursions all aroud Sicily. Moreover, Petralia Sottana in itself is a very nice town in the heart of the Madonie Regional Natural Park. We had 2 rooms, a double bedroom and a single bedroom. Both of them were large, excellent in any detail and equipped with every comfort (for... More

The female host is the best ever, truly! It was a warm welcome with cappuccino and home-made cake (delicious!). The room we stayed in was really a suite and very comfy. The town at night: heavenly. If there, do not hesitate to have diner at their family restaurant. It's a lovely place and the bruschetta and tagliata they serve is... More

As somebody wrote few reviews before, the recepcion is always empty, when you arrive you have to call a phone number, another cost to add to the price by night. Altough having booked more than 4 weeks before, the room was like a cave without windows and very noisy, just right next to the bar. Between 23:00 and midnight somebody... More

Dear customer, our rooms were evaluated by a national body for the hotel classification, then talk about caves or absence of windows in the room seems excessive to me. After having carefully examined his review are sorry for not being able to give her a pleasant stay in our hotel and in our country from what I read will have... More

II Castello fits in perfectly in the beautiful, old hilltop town, Petralia Sottana. The guesthouse, centrally located in town, combines a well-restored historical setting with modern comforts. Our room was excellent - a large suite with a double bed, two twin beds, and a private outdoor terrace with a long dining table and a fountain. The room decor was kept... More

This hotel was in absolutely tip-top condition. It had been renovated with a great deal of care and was clean, spick and span and well-maintained (a rarity in this island). The people who owned it were friendly and helpful. However, they don't man the desk 24 hours/day, so if you need to speak to them about something your best bet... More
