The drive up the the Castle (originally an Arab fortress) is incredible. It stands out of the ledge of the city of Alarcon with commanding views across the valley below it and the plains surrounding it. Unless you own your own castle this is as good as it gets. The facilities are excellent as whoever did the renovation clearly went all out. As you drive across the open countyside the castle becomes visable in the distance, and as you arrive, the winding one lane road passes through the exterior walls, with sheer dropoffs on either side.... more

Viewed by the arriving traveller, this is the most attractive/spectacular parador in Spain. It is the castle which for centuries has dominated this small and still relatively unspoilt village with a lot to see and great walks around.
