My husband and I were married on May 16th in Teffont and had our reception at the Howards House hotel. We had a lovely marquee in the garden and were even lucky with the weather! Noelle and her team provided an inobtrusive but attentive service throughout the day and the food was fantastic. So many guests complimented the venue, the... more

Teffont must be one of the most beautiful villages in England, and surely Howards House takes pride of place. This charming old building with magnificient gardens is truly a place to rejuvenate even the most cynical spirit. The welcome was warm and friendly, and the staff make one feel like part of a large family, without being overfriendly or obtrusive. The... more

This was our 2nd visit - last time was 4 or 5 years ago. I'm glad that this hotel is still going strong. The room was ok - it could do with some updating, it was comfortable enough. The evening meal was delicious, with an excellent wine list. And the hotel is set in a beautiful location. Unfortunately, the weather... more

Howard’s House is a small, genteel hotel located in an exceptionally beautiful and peaceful village. There is a sense of being in one of the last remaining enclaves of a now largely bygone England. Apart from this most appealing setting, the main attraction of Howard’s House is its cooking. The chef here eschews novelty and experimentation in favour of tried... more

Howard's House is a lovely old english house, set in a very peaceful and attractive village, about half way between Salisbury and Shaftesbury. The hotel has a very nice garden, which will look lovely in the Summer months. Our room was very confortable, the food was good (especially the cooked breakfasts which were very nicely cooked and not too large)... more

We found this place by happy accident through the tourist office in Salisbury. This is a postcard location and andexcellent hotel. The service is personal, the rooms very comfortable and the restuarnt excellent. The quaint town and surroundings are very quite and you feel you are in a movie set. A real find for us as we we had prebooked... more

A lovely location, very quiet and far away from bright street lights. It's almost like you have landed back in some bygone era. The service at the hotel was excellent. We were on honeymoon and as we arrived they showed us straight to our room without asking our names! Breakfast very tasty with a goof choice of cooked and cold.... more

A charming small hotel with an outstanding restaurant. The location is an unspoilt, sleepy village and the house itself is a cosy stone farmhouse. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. And the food was astonishing - better, even, than I'd expected having read glowing reviews. My starter (breast of wood pigeon on beetroot risotto with chocolate oil) lives on as a... more

I have stayed in many excellent hotels around the world, and reviewed both good and bad on Tripadvisor - this is one of the best. The house itself is almost 400 years old, and situated in a beautiful, tiny, tranquil village in a gently sloping verdant valley. A clear trout stream flows down the other side of the (usually deserted)... more

Howards House was recommended by an aquaintance who had come across this small hotel by accident. Either method is probably the only way you'd find out about this little gem of a weekend retreat. The hotel is small, (nine bedrooms) and was formally the Dower House on the estate. Downstairs, the lounge has a huge fireplace with a roaring log... more
