This was our second visit to this pub/restaurant and once again we were not disappointed. All meals have been delicious and a good range of wines. Lovely country setting.

Only went there for dinner - so can't comment on the accommodation but we had dinner there recently and there was some really nice elements but some things which didn't work so well...... The place itself is quite attractive and is nicely decorated and the staff are welcoming and attentive. There's a reasonable range of real ale and a wine... More

For a Friday night the place was very quiet, with only 3 tables occupied. Despite this, the service was quite slow. As for the food, the lamb was very nice, but the vegetables served with it were undercooked and very hard. The chocolate panacotta with shortbread dessert was heavenly though. All in all, a disappointing dinner given the price.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful country setting. The rooms were spotless albeit slightly small. The restuarant was in a slightly eccentric setting. Lots of candles, pictures and plants, but it gave a very comfortable and cosy feeling. The food was excellent with a sorbet in between the starter and main course. Breakfast was good and wholesome also. All the... More

Room very comfortable, food good, staff excellent. Couple of minor problems in room dealt with promptly. Another couple at dinner were watching something on a laptop, we asked them to turn the volume down but not enough so asked the landlord to ask them. He replied "they are guests too which we found a little odd, but he did so... More

This is my sort of hotel. I can’t bear the pretentious and flash hotels anymore. The rooms were immaculately clean; the bathroom was excellent with a large shower head to wallow in. When you got to the restaurant / bar it was comfort all the way. This is the place I would love to be stuck in the middle of... More

We were just back for our third stay at the Trooper Inn and were not let down. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend eating dinner at the pub. The food was outstanding and is worth a trip on its own merit. Breakfast was also top notch. Looking forward to our next visit.

The staff and the setting make The Trooper Inn. All staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We'd asked in advance to store our bikes somewhere safe and were offered their garage, they opened it up when we got there and made arrangements for us to get them back out very early on our day of departure.... Just stayed one night here to get away from things and do some walking. Very pleasant atmosphere and staff. Room (Selbourne) a bit on the small side but very clean, comfortable bed, wonderful view, big bath and very powerful shower. Evening meal was very good with locally sourced produce - fairly expensive but with good quality service and a fair... More

My wife and i spent one night at The Trooper on a golf trip. I can't come up with one negative about the stay other than the room was a bit small but that was a small price to pay for the rest of the package. From the time we arrived the service was excellent. The room itself was comfortable,... More
