We drove into Samara beach (small town and compacked into a few blocks) but it was hot and muggy with no breeze so we drove South to Carrillo beach and found the Carrillo Club hotel up on a hill over looking this wonderful beach. Not to mention a possible tsunami wiping us out in the middle of the night. Still... More

We stayed in Carrillo Club for three night in March 2012 - and overall we are quite happy with the stay. I believe our room was the one with the best view of the beach - totally stunning - and a perfect spot to watch the sunset. The owner was also very helpful! The breakfast was OK - the typical... This is a great place! When we went to Carrillo the town was deserted because the bridge was out. The Carrillo Club was our oasis. The host was so kind. It was the part of our trip when things stop working. We had rented a car with a cell phone. The car broke, The cell phone stopped letting us call... More

I have been meaning to write this for a long time! I have lived for thriteen years in Costa Rica and have been to 40 beaches. My wife and I several years ago (The Hotel has not changes since then) at Christmas for five days. The only positive point is the great view of the beach Other than that the... More

Planned on staying 3 days, only able to make it for 2 days. one son woke up with over 15 bedbug bites (or whatever) on his face...could not find hosts enough to tell them...stripped the bed, removed the pillow, etc. I woke up with 4-5 bites on my face the next day. Told the young lady covering the next morning.... More

Stayed over the week between Christmas and New Years. The owners who happened to be German made us feel at home. Would stay again if we ever get back that way. Great views of the beach. Wonderful beach! ! !

Of all of the wonderful hotels we stayed at, this was our favorite. Our room was very new, very large, and very clean. We had a balcony with an incredible view. . This hotel seems to be a favorite for Ticos—and with good reason. The breakfast included was the best on the trip. Eggs, beans and rice, lots of fresh... More

Management and Staff As well the personal as the owner of the hotel - a German - are nice, correct and friendly people. They try to help and advice you where possible. Location The location of the hotel is great. You literally stay almost at the beach. The only little negative point is that there is quite a slope to... More

We stayed at Carrillo Club Hotel for three nights last week with our two children. It is in Playa Carrillo, just south of Playa Samara (TripAdvisor lists it under "Nicoya" rather than "Playa Carrillo." Carrillo is in the municipality of Nicoya.) . I have mixed feelings about Carrillo Club. It has several rooms that sleep 4 or 5, so it... More

I have stayed here several times and will stay again. The view from the restaurant the best in the area. I could sit there all day and be happy. Great staff and likely to get Tico experience over less safer, more problematic Playa Samara. But, you get what you pay for and you shouldn't pay more that $50 a night... More
