We had walked the 21 miles from Ingleby Cross over the cleveland hills and eventually saw the Inn on the horizon. What a welcome site arriving at 6.15 shown straight to room for well earned bath and smarten up for meal with wife and her parents. Room clean and modern and reasonable size nice fittings. Choice of local and other... More

We've been visiting North York Moors for years and never eaten here, we've just drove past. This visit we ate here was wow, what a beautiful pub it is inside, superb. The menu was huge, a good choice and the food was good, wholesome and tasty. Hot food on hot plates is a must and it was perfect at the... More

A great stop for a coast to coast walker, the rooms were really equiped to a high standard and very clean. I had an exceptionally spacious lovely room with large bath, Room 14 is the one to go for as I sneeked a look at the other rooms and they were much smaller. Great friendly bar service and a roaring... More

I haven't eaten in the main restaurant here and I wouldn't come for a 'meal out', but this is a great place in an amazing location for walkers/cylists. The beer is the star (Old Peculier on draft - mmmm!) but the haddock and chips is great too. The bar area is dark and gloomy and well-used and feel like a... More

We were recommended this place by the b and b we were staying near Helmsley, and it was well worth the drive up onto the moors. It serves a good mix of traditional food, with the homemade steak and mushroom pie being a must try!The portions are huge, so although prices seem higher than some other places, you really get... prices seem a bit high, but food has improved since our last visit, and we are "regulars and locals". Atmosphere can't be beaten, very relaxing and undemanding. Staff are always friendly attentive. The "dog situation " is a problem for us, we love dogs but don't really want them so close and wagging tails near our plates, in fairness there... More

We have been regular customers for the last 10 years but standards have definitely slipped of late. Staff are polite and I blame myself for being a bit 'British' (I am Canadian) and not complaining about the meal I was served. The portions are very large but piled high with chips that have been deep fried several times and the... More

No longer the pub it was. Ate here for my fathers birthday and the food and service was dire. The service has been poor the last few times we've been but my parents kept hoping it would be like it was. I won't be going back, there are far better places in the locality with far better food and cheaper... More

We had been here for a drink before and thought that next time we would stay over night. This is an old inn ideally suited for the hardy walkers who have slogged over the moors and want to have a soak, a pint, a meal, and a sociable evening before turning in. Not being hardy walkers and having only slogged... More
