15 members of our family gathered at the Countryman's Inn on over the weekend of 19th and 20th November 2011 to celebrate an 80th birthday. We received a very warm welcome indeed. The 80th birthday girl is physically quite frail and has mobility problems but every effort was made to make sure all her needs were met. The accomodation was... More

We had stayed at the Countryman's before and decided to make a return visit using it as a good point at which to break out journey from the Scottish Highlands to Cambridge. Tony is an excellent host and he and his team make the Inn feel a very homely place to stay. The beer is local (although the website boasts... More

Stayed here for a long weekend and the room was excellent, facilities superb, and it was an excellent base for visiting the Dales. Situated in Hunton, in the midst of Wensleydale near Bedale, all you could want to see nearby. My wife and I were fed by an excellent chef, and food as good. Tony, the host, was always on... More

The automatic door closure on the offending external door has now been replaced and a second door closer adjusted to provide a gentler closure. Thank you for your feedback that brough this to our attention. More

Stayed here one night in August, Tony a great friendly host of this cosy village pub. Room was acceptable, well equipped with the best power shower I have ever used, cleanliness in the bathroom a little poor with the shower door not cleaned from previous occupants. Evening meal in the restaurant was really good, with good atmosphere from locals. Breakfast... More

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to submit your review. Although happy that you state that you were happy with your stay overall, I woud like to respond to two of your observations. Relating to the shower room, I can assure you that the shower was cleaned prior to your arrival. I have recently employed a... More

The Countryman's Inn is a lovely place to stay, situated in the most beautiful village in North Yorkshire. When you first walk into the bar, it looks like a traditional old village pub, very dark, lots of stuff about and it has that "old" pub smell. Our booking was a bit messed up but without any hassle, Tony the landlord... More

Initially unnerved by the room not matching the "Olde Worlde" exterior, we settled in and our host Tony Jackson, was a great guy who couldn't do enough to make us welcome and comfortable. Joining the locals (and Tony) in the bar at "crack-a-tinny" time was a highlight. Recommended! More

This B&B was found by surfing and what a great find it turned out to be. The en-suite room was perfect and the room itself large, comfortable and provided with good extra needs. Tony the landlord was a tremendous host and enabled a small fridge to be in the room, which we needed for medicine storage. Food here is excellent... More

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights 2 weeks ago and found The Countryman to be a lovely pub in a lovely village location. The bar is really nice and had an excellent selection of real ales. The evening meals were between average and very good depending on what was ordered. Breakfast time was a little... More

Thank you for submitting your review and sharing your feedback. We are glad that, overall, you enjoyed your stay with us. The glass washer issue was resolved the following week, through a change of cleaning product and an increased frequency of "clean down". With regard to the door closer on the gents toilets, I will have this looked at and... More

What a lovely little village this pub is situated in. We did not stay at this pub, we had lunch here. We arrived and seated ourselves in the window seats. After batting down god knows what from the seat covers, removed the dead flies from the cigarette burnt table cloth. We decided to give this place the benefit of the... More
