Found this Inn on the 3rd Sunday of May and found that about 30 local Blues players meet up every 3rd Sunday in the month and have a jam. It was the best Blues night I have had in years and totaly free. They have music every Friday and if it is anywere near as good well worth a visit.... More

We stayed here prior to going on a cruise from Southampton which it is very convenient for. When we arrived we were informed that we had been upgraded to one of the rear rooms and were shown to the room by a lady who made a point of informing us about the Fire Procdure - I think that this is... This was a first visit - (beware if you are late as there is no mobile reception, certainly with Orange). It had a small open fire, a few tables in the bar area, a pool room and a sofa / armchair in the larger eating area. The decor was not terribly traditional but the genuinely warm welcome from staff more... More

The Shoe Inn is situated very close to the new forest which is perfect location. The pub itself and the rooms are very clean - a traditional country pub with lovely fireplaces etc. There is a main road that runs between the car park and the inn which can get quite busy. Although I think there was ample garden space... More

Went for food with my 5-year-old. Good choices for kids and an ok range of vegetarian dishes. On a busy main road (which has to be crossed if using the car park on the other side).

The landlady & her staff were very friendly & helpful. I paid extra for a bedroom at the back to be away from the noise of the traffic but being on the end of the building it was still very noisy - as others have said, when trucks (of which there are many) go past the whole building literally shudders!... As every other reviewer has said, we knew about the noisy road prior to booking our room here, but we sleep like logs anyway and the place looked so cosy and "English pub"-like that we went ahead and booked. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the staff who was very polite and professional, offering to help carry our... More

We found the room and en-suite bathroom (though small) clean, with everything one could ask for. Coffee and tea, biscuits, a good evening meal and an excellent breakfast. And history, as this is a very old establishment. An enjoyable stay and value for money. Would have liked to be able to buy a postcard of the photo taken in the... More
