After reading some reviews, we were a little unsure about our visit. we needn't have worried the family and staff soon made us feel at home. there is a regular bus route to york or the coast should want to have a break from driving. the accommodation must have improved from other reveiws read. although we only stayed 3 nights,we... We chose this place because York was very busy and the accommodation left was too expensive. Although a short drive from York it was advertised as having a village pub that did meals nearby, however the pub was closed so we finished up having to go into York anyway. The accommodation was adequate; en suite was clean, bed comfy and... More

We stayed at Orillia house in the one bedroom cottage for a weekend getaway. I'll start with the good because it's quicker. Close to York, Friendly locals, Quiet location and Helpful staff. Now the bad. The cottage obviously hadn't been cleaned close to our arrival. The bathroom bin had not been emptied from the previous guests and all I'll say... More

Oh deary me. It was my fault and I fully accept that. You see I made the killer mistake of being seduced by the photographs. For once I let my head be ruled by my heart. The reason you see it was our 29th Wedding Anniversary and the photo’s of the four poster bed and the bathroom looked inviting. The... More

Our self catering cottage was very comfortable, with extras such as a washing machine, wifi and off street parking right outside the door. Leave the car and take the bus - only 15 minutes to the centre of York for 3 pounds 50 return, with a bus every 30 minutes. You get the benefits of a lovely quiet village (pub... More

We chose this B&B as it was reasonably close to York and one of the Park & Ride facilities surrounding the city (you don't even think about taking the car to park inside). The name plate on the door gives this 4 'diamonds', which we believe is far too high. We were met by the owner, who showed us to... More

Arrived a little after specified time of arrival, welcomed very nicely, shown up to room and a little disappointed as room photos looked better than in reality. Bathroom very tired and in need of updating and room very cramped. Breakfast very nice and very accommodating owner, who is really pleasant. Downside was the house itself is very old and very... We would certainly recommend this lovely B&B. Our room was large and clean, breakfast was hearty and the surrounding countryside beautiful. York was but a 10 minute bus ride away. It was a wonderful weekend!
