As others have said, it's an impressive building and the grounds are lovely, but I found the rooms tired. I arrived on a warm evening to a room that was stiflingly hot. Thank goodness a safety catch was broken on one of the windows, allowing me to open it wide, as there is no air-conditioning, which is surprising in a... more

Location of hotel is fabulous but quite a distance from train station so if you're not driving get ready to pay about £65 to and from hotel i.e. £32 or more each way. Food very lovely and we enjoyed both nights and staff were courteous. Breakfast was excellent. Not enough towels though but I believe if we had requested for... more

This stunning hotel provides lovely weekend retreats. It is a charming building with rooms starting from clean basic to connoisseur. I often get upgraded to them which is a bonus! Make sure you get a weekend deal though otherwise costs can mount up. 2 of the times I have stayed there, I have been woken up by fire alarms early... more

Its a bit out of town if you go by train but worth it if you get good weather as the grounds are beautiful. If you want to get away from it all on a hot summers day, this is the place to be! Agree with the others that its only value for money if you get a deal (which... more

The place is lovely, but as the other reviews state, the actual rooms where you stay aren't much to write home about. We managed to get a half price deal with B&B for £45, which was about right, but wouldn't be happy paying the full £90 price as it was, overall, average. Staff were friendly, bed was comfortable and breakfast... more

This is the second time we have stayed here. The hotel is excellent with excellent facilities and good special offers. We stayed on a midweek break and the hotel had its share of business visitors(only to be expected). All facilities excellent, although the two rather nice lounges are a little hidden away in the tower. Pool and sauna area excellent... more

This hotel is obviously thriving on its wedding/conference business, but it lacks that special touch for personal attention and service. Also the extension to the building where most of the rooms are is comfortable, but somewhat dull and lacking in character that the main building has. What really let's the hotel down is the food, especially the Moreton's restaurant where... more

We stayed there over the Easter holidays having been there previously last year over a weekend. The hotel is situated in lovely grounds, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the public areas have been restored in great detail when the hotel was renovated in 2001. The leisure club is clean, functional and a pleasure to use and the Dining... more

In spite of an old-fashioned, messy and downmarket website the hotel was fantastic. We stayed two nights in February, The hotel is very comfortable - lots of lounges, with service. Wonderful grounds and walks. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. Moretons Restaurant was basic but good but the Orangery was superb. Pool was small but very pleasant. One... more
