Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We chose Goumenissa to stay while visiting the archaeological sites of Vergina and Pella. It is a delightful little town with an idyllic main square shaded by ancient plane trees with busy tavernas and bars. The town was particularly busy because of the elections. We stayed in the Dimosthenis Hotel, less than two or three minutes walk from the square. We stay in many hotels across Europe and the Dimosthenis is a rare gem of a find. It is a delightful small hotel. We planned to stay for two nights and extended our stay to three nights, because we enjoyed the hotel and town so much. We will remember our stay there with fondness for a long time. The Dimosthenis is run by Maria, a charming member of the family that own the hotel, who is welcoming and gave us lots of advice about the area. We had booked by phone and Maria had chosen for us a large comfortable room with a balcony. The room was spotlessly clean. A good breakfast is provided, including eggs cooked as you want. In the hotel there is also a comfortable sitting area. One may say that many hotels provide all these amenities, which is true, but the Dimosthenis also had charm, which is what made our stay there memorable.

Dimosthenis is a great guesthouse in a beautiful little town in the mountains, just one hour from Thessaloniki. Maria, the owner, seems to be born to be a hostess, she is excellent at making you feel at home. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the breakfast each morning is very nice! Also the town is surrounded by beautiful nature which is nice to explore.

We have been for a second time (2 nights) with an other couple. I think that the very good impression we had from the last time remains. The hotel is in the middle of the town, has a very modern (and simultanously traditional) style, offers a very good breakfast and the owners are very friendly and helpful. There is a small parking are for max 3 cars in front of the hotel, otherwise you have to use public parking about 50-100m away. Restaurants, bars etc are cery close to the hotel.

The hotel is good for overnighting during a long travel, but you should not expect the quality shown on the official pictures. The room was clean, altough i do not recommend the use of the hydromassage tub, even after trying to clean it, wash before use, small dirt pieces were coming out of the parts blowing air... The lady welcoming us was very friendly, she speaks a very good English. The breakfast is very good compared to other Greek breakfasts, freshly squeezed orange juice, toast is you wish some. There was unfortunately no mosquito net on the windows, so we had to chase mosquitos during night. The air conditioning is not places very well, blowing to your face in you are in the bed. The hotel itself is only 3 stars out of the 5 for me, I am giving 4 for the great hospitality and breakfast.

A good reason to stay in beautiful Goumenissa and good value for money. Excellent brealfast. I had a front room with traffic noise unexpected for a small town (it stopped at night though, so it was not a problem). Ms Popi made the difference, as she helped me learn about Goumenissa and the nearby attractions.

Stayed here for one night. From the time we entered reception we were made welcome. We were advised as to where to park and a drink was offered. Our room was a reasonable size and had a nice terrace overlooking the street. It is situated just off the town square which had a number of tavernas. Fresh water from the mountain was available to drink from the taps in the square. Whilst in this area you should not miss the Ossios Nikodemus Monastery. It is a few kilometres from the town. We were lucky enough to go just as the monks were being called to prayer. We talked to a monk who unlocked a reception room and gave us tea and biscuits which was a very interesting experience. Well worth a visit to this hotel in this beautiful area. Tip: ask for front room with terrace overlooking street. breakfast was excellent with homemade products. Maria's children were delightful and well behaved.

A cozy, comportable and clean place run by Maria - the most amazing woman of Greece. You feel her good spirit in every corner of the hotel. She should not only run the hotel but the whole country ;) The rooms are very nice, everything works like it is supposed to be. The breakfast with homemade jam, dark bread and delicious coffee reflects the love Maria puts into her guesthouse. If you are in the region, go there. You won't find better.

This hotel is simply a blessing! First of all, the location of the hotel is ideal; right in the middle of the village but away from the noise. You are a walk-distance to the nature! The surroundings are gorgeous and the nice staff knows exactly where to guide you! They are able to adapt to any kind of travel; from the lazy one to the most athletic! The hotel itself is really clean and warm. And the breakfast is sooooo good! Being here is a must!
