Me and my partner had the misfortune of staying here over the bank holiday weekend. Naturally I had read the reviews on here beforehand and was a little dubious to say the least but then read another response which I can only assume is a member of staff as I cannot believe someone would have a good stay at this... more

Further to your comments, I regret that your stay was not quite the relaxing experience you anticipated and the service provided by the hotel was not to the standard in which you had hoped. On a more positive note, I do appreciate your comments regarding the members of staff who did ensure that your requests were adhered and will ensure...

Like many other reviewers, I too, was apprehensive, but I needn't have been. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and I really enjoyed the food both in the restaurant and at breakfast. The room was lovely and as the weather was really hot, a fan was provided! This hotel is an old building and there are obviously improvements... more

We were rather concerned about the reviews here but for family reasons it was convenient so off we went. First night was OK - 6 foot bed and if the floodlights still tended to creep round the edge of the thick curtains at least they kept out most of the light. Room was overheated and the hotel could save itself... more

My wife and I ,both late seventies, were give a room in the attic, which even in April was excessively hot. The en suite lacked a plug in the whb. The toilet seat area needed a thorough clean. The margins of the carpet had not been cleaned for many a year ,and no doubt harboured a most interesting milieu for enterprising moths.... more

From reading your comments it is disappointing to note that you were not fully satisfied with areas of your stay for which I apologise. The points raised about the bedroom have since been addressed albeit I agree with your sentiment that more thorough checks should have been done to remove such problems. Since your last stay we have changed our...

We spent three days at the hotel with our young children 13 and 14 on a dinner bed and breakfast basis. The rooms were comunicating which gave us the privacy we needed along with peace of mind. Rooms were very presentable and comfortable. We really cannot praise the staff highly enough and would like to state that the food was... more

This is a hotel of 2 halves. Refurbishment may have taken place, but I would question where as there were so many knocks and grazes along the corridors, skirtings, bath panels etc that it felt slightly sorry. However the reason we were there was to celebrate my birthday and have a first night away without our six month old. SLEEP!... more

From reading your comments it is disappointing to note that you were not fully satisfied with areas of your stay for which I apologise. I sincerely regret that the food did not meet your expectations and in this regard can confirm that we are soon to introduce new menus, taking such guest feedback into account. On a more positive note...

The Cheltenham Park is really hit and miss. Sometimes it is fine, sometimes it is dreadful. My advice is to ask for a room at the back as the views are so much better. The rooms furthest away from reception are not so good and tend to smell a little damp and do not always have hot water ( those... more

We are disappointed and do apologise to hear that you did not have a good experience. With regards to no hot water this has since been investigated with heating engineers, who have conducted a full service to eliminate such problems in the future. The luke warm breakfast is disappointing to read. Attention has been given to this along with the...

We booked in for two nights, the first we had booked dinner, bed and breakfast, the second just bed and breakfast as we planned to go to the highly regarded Le Chaumpignon Sauvage nearby. The check in was ok, but the woman on the desk was very false and didn't really give a great first impression we were only able... more

I was worried before I arrived, I booked and then checked the reviews, which didn't seem very good! When we arrived the Hotel was in a nice location and easy to find. The main reception staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. The room was in good condition and the double bed was the biggest I have ever seen - it... more

My wife and I stayed here for two nights during the very cold spell at the beginning of January on a DBB deal. Although the weather was cold outside, -8, the welcome and the stay was always extremely warm. We upgraded to a premium room and were allocated room number 417. A wonderful view of the countryside and the grounds... more
