We stayed at the Barbon Inn after a days walking at Pennygent. Our room was lovely and included a flat screen tv and tea and coffee making facilities. After reading some reviews on this site I was expecting the worst when it came to the ensuite but it was absolutely fine with a power shower (water lovely and hot). We... more

This is a very old inn which has been modernised. The bedrooms are basic but adequate with flat screen t.v.'s.It has a great atmosphere with an old fashioned log fire in the bar and an excellent chef. The evening I stayed they had put on some new dishes and I was recommended to try the supreme of Chicken stuffed with... more

The setting was beautiful, the bar and restaurant promising and the staff (waitress) attentive, polite and apologetic! We are vegetarians who occasionally eat fish- my husband almost always in restaurants because of the poor food generally offered as vegetarian fare. I was limited in my choice- I think there were two options as starters and main courses. My husband chose... more

We spent two nights at this inn and overall where happy with the place. A few things that let the place down where the older staff members where shall we say a little snooty towards my husband and myself. We really felt looked down upon. The upstairs landing was often covered with sheets waiting to be put away. Apart from... more

it would have been great. Despite the owner recognising our names, there was no room at this particular Inn. Good location, excellent meals, can't tell you about the accommodation sadly. Very disappointed as a result. more

myself and the hubby have just come back from a long weekend, in the Barbon, and we found this Inn to be excellent, the food and service was fantastic, and although the Barbon is off the beaten track we found that this added to it;s charm, and loved the little village of Barbon and had no trouble getting there and... more

I wouldn't want to be looking for Barbon in the dark. It is certainly off the beaten track! The rooms are comfortable enough, but do ask for a king-sized bed if booking a superior room. Room 4 has a double bed and the main light over the bar entrance is located above the window. Breakfast was lovely with local sausage... more

A truly great 2 night stay! We were a little dubious after seeing some bad reviews regarding the decor but were very pleasantly surprised on arrival as the place has been tastefully redecorated and upgraded. The room was spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean. The pub itself is a typical country pub with a good atmosphere, friendly locals, exquisite food... more

The bar, lounge and restaurant were warm and inviting with real fires burning in each room. Unfortunately the rooms were less so. We opted for a superior room benefiting from a en-suite bathroom and a four poster bed for £120, expensive for the area but we wanted something special. There was a stark difference between the bar and the rooms... more
