The Baliffs House is of low standard and isn't really suitable to share with friends. The inside is very poorly finished, it's damp, there is only one shower as an en suite of one room, it was actually cold as the boiler wasn't able to heat the space, the fire provided little warmth as all the wood we were advised... Had a family funeral to attend close by, only place I could get booked into close by. Stayed in the stables, was an amazing little barn conversion, with wood burner, plenty of space and very comfy beds. Stunning scenery. Lovely guild book written by the owners with valid advice! Only down side was that there were no cuterly in the... More

Superb locations, freedom to play And experiment with a variety of materials and ideas. All inspired by the rather fantastic Margaret Merritt (West Dean / Great Missinden). Pigs, chickens, sheep, geese, peacocks and a wonky house stuffed with intersting artefacts provide boundless inspirational opportunities. The week is fully catered. fresh, home made, often home grown. Delicious and plentiful. Luxuries are limited... More

Stayed here whilst on business and loved the location - out in the countryside and very peaceful, the night sky is amazing for any stargazers! Was lovely to arrive to see a row of ducks walking through the yard. Rooms were spacious and light. This is a place where families/friends can stay as there is ample grounds where the children... Glynhir is made ip of several cottages, flats and the mansion b&b. We stayed in the stable flat which is a very old building with wonky floors which add to the charm. Bathroom is modern and clean. Kitchen had all you need. There are lovely walks around the estate including one to a beautiful waterfall. There are free roaming peacocks,... More

My second stay at Glynhir, last time was about two years ago. This time I stayed in one of the self-catering apartments, although as I was part of a large group we had catering laid on for us in the main dining room. As before, the food was excelent, mostly home grown on the estate. Salad greenery picked fresh from... More

We have had one of the best Easter breaks ever! There was a fantastic group of families at Glynhir. The adults got on famously and the children (19 of them, ranging from 1 to 12) had an absolute blast!! It really was a wonderful holiday. The weather was on our side too, we had a couple of days at the... More

My wife discovered the Glynhir Estate early in 2010, and we stayed in August 2010, in a self catering cottage. The cottage had lovely big rooms, with a log fire - which we only lit once, as the weather was so lovely we didn't need to. There is oil central heating as well, which we didn't need either. There is... More

We've stayed at the Glynhir estate 4 times now and each time has been wonderful. The accommodation is not plush, but clean, comfortable and feels like home. The estate is absolutely beautiful and to be honest, even if it's awful weather, which is often is.......... rain coats and wellies and it doesn't matter. Swansea is also only half an hour... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Time slips by just as it always has done at Glynhir. For decades, the estate has welcomed guests of all kinds – families, artist groups, tourists – who return again and again to a place where the days seem to pass that bit slower. Guests can while away hours on end by simply sitting out with a mug of coffee in the tree filled garden with its ornamental canal, setting an easel up to capture the views of the rugged Black Mountains, or curling up with a book in front of the open fire in the 17th century mansion. A short stroll takes you around the cobbled farmyard among free roaming peacocks, chickens, geese and ducks, or down to the River Loughor with its 30ft waterfall for the exclusive enjoyment of guests. This is all before you’ve ventured beyond Glynhir’s 220 acres into the Brecon Beacons National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with enough valleys and vistas to satisfy the keenest walkers.AboutGlynhir is located two miles from the village of Llandybie, between the towns of Ammanford and Llandeilo, and just ten miles from the end of the M4. Its name ‘glyn hir’ means ‘long valley’ and describes the way the mansion was built on a plateau above a seven mile long wooded gorge at the foot of the Black Mountains.Glynhir offers both B&B in the 17th century mansion and self catering accommodation in six historic cottages. ... more   less
