I have had the great fortune of staying at hotels costing ten times what the Sawrey House charges and left without feeling the sense of delight and absolutely satisifcation following my short stay here. Have stayed at this hotel twice now. Very comfortable and the food is absolutely delicious with beautiful views over Esthwaite water. The owners are more than willing to help make a celebration special such as cakes, flowers etc. Wonderful relaxing environment, you can truly unwind and a lovely part of the lakes. The food at this hotel is good but choice is limited. We stayed in the four poster room with lake view and were very disappointed. I have to totally disagree with a previous reviewer, we have visited Sawrey House on a number of occassions and have always felt the place to be excellent value for money. Sawrey House would make a pleasant upmarket B&B if the prices were more reasonable. However with central heating that does not stay on overnight (freezing cold in the winter), chintzy unmodernized rooms and worn fabrics - a more reasonable price would be 50 UKP per room per night (rather than 110 UKP).
