Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a two night "Winter Warmer Deal" stay in 11-12th March. This was our second visit, last visit was 12 years ago. We were on a DBB rate and the food was really good even although the dinner menu was quite limited. The chef Chris really turned out great tasty plates of food. Our highlights were the Salmon with Chimichurri sauce and Chocolate and "Toblerone" Cheesecake. Jodie the receptionist and Waitress was excellent and made a huge effort to try and make our stay as enjoyable as possible. On day two she made sure we had a "winter warmer" by lighting the open fire in the living-room so that we could have drinks before dinner and our desserts after dinner in a very cosy space. Thanks Jodie you were a star!! In comparison to our first visit 12 years ago, we thought the hotel was still good value for money but had lost some of the sparkle that it had previously and is maybe time for some general "TLC" in the property.

This was our third stay at this hotel. The 2 nights winter break is excellent value. The room was excellent with a small functional ensuite bathroom. The staff are all very friendly and polite. The breakfasts and evening meals were very good. I'm sure we'll be back for a fourth visit.

The staff were excellent and looked after us wonderfully. It's a lovely country house hotel next door to Beatrix Potter's house. The food was great. There are good walks from there. The gardens are nice too. Our room was excellent, the bed comfortable and the views were marvellous.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this excellent little Hotel.Sadly we were the only people staying at the time but were made to feel welcome from the start by Jody Hope I spelt that right. The room we had Number 7 had a great view of The Grounds and Eshtwaite Lake. The room was spotless and a good size. The bed extremely comfortable and the meals at both dinner and breakfast excellent.Large proportions at dinner and a wide choice at breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return. A bonus is that is almost next door to The home of Beatrix Potter and only five minutes from The Ferry

We have stayed at Sawrey House a few times now and were pleased to return for a cosy and relaxing pre-Christmas break. The hotel is easily reached in the southern part of the Lake District (It's especially fun if you go across the Windermere ferry to get there) but in an area that is much more peaceful then Bowness or Windermere itself. The scenery is beautiful and it is not far to lots of interesting attractions and walks. This time we visited Tarn Hows, Wordsworth's home at Rydal Mount and shops in Ambleside and Windermere. We enjoyed both our 3-course dinner and our breakfasts. The bed was comfortable and the rooms warm on the coldest night of the year so far!
