We visited here in May whilst on a motorcycling holiday through Spain, this was our first experience of a Parador and it was quite simply fabulous! The rooms were quite large, with loads of amenities from toothbrushes, combs to shampoo and conditioner. There's a great tapas bar in town.

Friendly reception staff - that is what counts, as it makes the first impression. The building itself is probably somewhat substandard for a parador, but the rooms are cosy and big enough. Calahorra is conveniently situated on the road to the south east of Spain about 3 hours drive from Santander. The town itself is rather non-descript, but from our experience is completely non-threatening, if rather boring, and, sadly, rather boarded-up. My husband and I stayed here for one night on the way to Santander. The car parking directly outside the hotel was excellent, the room was lovely and really warm and cosy. The meal in the restaurant was quite expensive but the food was lovely. The breakfast was really nice. I would definitely stay there again

The parador is lovely, but pricey. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient and our room was large and comfortable. The free wi-fi worked very well. We loved Calahorra. Walk out of the parador into Paseo del Mercadal and enjoy the bars, cafes and the atmosphere. Enjoy a lovely breakfast of freshly squeezed orange, coffee and toast or pain... More

We stayed two nights in this parador (booked through Brittany Ferries) in a standard room - which was lovely. Huge room with views out over the mountains in the distance at the rear of the hotel. In our travel to Barcelona we stayed at Parador de Calahorra. The rooms (one for use and one for children) were spacious, clean and pleasant. The breakfast was great. Unless you need to stay in Calahorra, I would avoid it and chose a nicer nearby Parador. No complaints at all about the hotel, which was more than equal to the other Paradors we stayed in...it really was just down to the town itself....it is the only Spanish town where we felt uncomfortable about walkinmg around the streets.

A good overnight stop on the way between northern Spain and the Med. Big mansion with lots of wood inside, giving a warm, inviting atmosphere although with quite a bit of noise from adjacent rooms.
