A one night stay recently found the following little gems: - Bedroom sink in one room hanging off the wall - Showers turning from hot to scalding and then nothing at all - No lampshade or soap in our bathroom - Dead moths falling out of the curtains - Biscuits in one room over 3 months out of date -... Where do I start? Room not clean, previous occupants rubbish still in bin, bed unmade. Bathroom stank. Window didn't open so very stuffy, TV didn't work. No fire escape plan!!! Shower head in need of serious attention. Long life milk provided for tea/coffee off Lovely setting but totally lacking in care - grass not cut, weeds in patio, hanging baskets... More

Don't stay at this hotel. Poor hygiene standards - especially of toilets - very unsatisfactory. We had booked for two nights but left after one. Quality of food also poor.

We booked this hotel for a 1 night stay for £65 for me and the wife. The price was very good but sadly the hotel wasn't the best. It just looks tired, with a little bit of effort this hotel could be very nice. The toilet seat was loose, all it needed was 1 screw tightened, the silicone round the... More

My wife booked what was supposed to be a romantic stay on valentines night, as we got married at the Jacobean Lodge years ago, prior to the present owners taking over. Initially our booking was accepted and then we were told by the owners that our booking was now cancelled as they had double booked us and there were no... More

Stayed here for one night to be near the village of Haxby - all other hotels were full. Booked bed and breakfast. Got up in the morning to find all the communal passageways in total darkness - had to use my mobile phone light to find my way to the outside door - which was locked. When I finally managed... More

Sunday lunch, we dined on a Minster Radio voucher offer. First visit and last. 2 of 6 starters were not available. All salad options were not available. Restaurant showed little customer focus. Of the 4 'Voucher' restaurants we have visited, this was the only one that did not include coffees and soft drinks within the voucher value (other restaurants included... More

It was a late minute decision to grab a weekend away and we found this hotel was available at the right price. We were not disappointed. We were impressed with the decor and homely feel to the hotel. The service was good and most importantly so was the food (even though they had a large party in from the local... More

I would like to add that yes were running out of food from the carvery but there was still some left just not enough for all six guests. I had apologised for the time it took to get a table ready for them, but unfortunately somebody had given there table away before these customers had arrived, i did think that... More
