We had an upstairs room at the end, with a view. Other rooms looked far inferior. The place seemed to cater to small groups, and was pretty impersonal The food was bland, but the beer was cold. It was OK for an AC night as a base for visiting Yala, but it's ceretainly nothing special.

Booked this place for 2 night while we visited Yala National Park. Nice location overlooking the lake and the pool was great when you got back from a mornings safari. But the hotel is very expensive - the going rate is currently $65 /night which is up with the Queens hotel in Kandy, and the rooms were disgusting. Had to... More

I don't know why this guesthouse gets such bad reviews. We payed 5300Rs for a triple room we shared with 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) incl. breakfast. The pool is small but the water looks clean and is a nice refreshment after a safari. The staff is friendly and helpfull. The food: the first day we had chicken curry,... More

Lake Side Tourist Inn looks a bit tired from the outside but the rooms were clean and perfectly suitable for a short stay. Rooms have TVs and attached bathrooms. The restaurant serves very tasty local curries as well as Western food such as grilled Seer fish with chips and vegetables. The staff were very friendly and eager to please. The... More

This is a large and adequate budget hotel set about 1 km past Tissa township. The rooms are small but reasonably furnished with a small television on the wall. There are large public sitting areas when the little rooms become too oppressive. There are cute cats and plenty of bat and gecko action at night. Our room had noisy air-com... More

Thankfully we were only booked in one night as our driver could not get us in where we requested. The toilet and shower were dirty. I would not recommend staying here

We made a rounttrip in Sri Lanka with our 2 year old son. This was the worst accomodation we had (we stayed in simple guesthouses) The pool is to dirty to swim in and looks like milky water with a lot of bugs in it. The water is standing still so it's not going through a filter or something. Rooms... More

First appearances were good and with an old colonial style feel to it, but that’s as good as it gets. Although the staffs were friendly they could not conceal the poor condition of the place, or mask the musty drainage smell from the ground floor rooms. (Or from those rooms on the next level for that matter.) The mosi-nets had... More

When staying in a room at this hotel, we found it was covered in cobwebs and the airconditioning was broke. the shower was cold and didnt work properly. we had dinner at the hotel. we had fish but, i left mine as it tasted of plastic. We were going to go camping near Yala for the night but had to make a late change due to illness. In hindsight the great outdoors would have been a better choice. Firstly this hotel is near a big lake. Not too bad except if the mosquito nets above the beds have holes in them. Add to that some ants... More
