On our way to Bavaria, we stopped at hotel Klosterbräu, only because all places near the motorway were fully booked (which appeared to be very fortunate!). Our navigation system guided us off the motorway, through peaceful forests and fields, to the hotel which is situated on the town square of the tiny, quiet village Ebrach where time seemed to have stood still. We strolled through the village and the park and discovered a charming little church in front of the hotel. A very soothing experience after a day of driving in heavy traffic. At the hotel, situated in an old convent, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our spacious room with a great view on the garden and old buildings. The room was furnished in modern German country style; the bed, in which we had a good night's sleep, stood in some sort of alcove, which made the sitting area with sofa and tv seem somehow separate from the sleeping area.
